Today, Entr’Ados is finally back in the classroom. The regular activities are resuming like they did in the fall, but with more strict sanitary measures. Our team is being creative and flexible to continue to give school support and stimulating educational activities to adolescents of 12-17 years old. They are looking forward of being back together again. Here is a nice souvenir of the last time we were physically together!

News from Connections! At Innovation Youth, students of Connections have been back since mid-January. Despite the cold weather and the lack of vitamin D, even though days are sunny, they remain motivated to reach their educational and personal goals. We are slowly approaching the end of the semester. We continue to work hard with the tutors, who allowed us to set up an intensive tutoring micro-program for math twice a week. This semester, we took the time to discuss the importance of our well-being and ways to take care of ourselves and those around us. What a grace it is to see young people gaining in maturity and feeling confident enough to ask us for help so afterward, we can continue to accompany this incredible group. Thank you for taking the time to pray for these young students ever so resilient despite the times they live in!

C’est manifestement l’hiver, mais à Entr'Ados, nous pensons déjà au printemps ! En effet, notre équipe travaille actuellement à préparer le très beau projet d’agriculture urbaine De la semence au toit vert qui débutera en mars. Notre objectif est de recruter 10 jeunes d’Hochelaga qui adopteraient une mini-serre à semis à la maison et qui découvriraient l’univers de l’agriculture urbaine par divers ateliers. En mai, nos jeunes plants seront plantés sur notre nouveau toit v...ert. Nous sommes enthousiastes à l’idée de ce projet, car nous savons qu’il peut permettre aux jeunes d’avoir une activité enrichissante et valorisante après l’école. Merci de prier avec nous pour que Dieu nous permette d’atteindre les apprentis jardiniers que nous avons à cœur ! These days, it’s clearly winter, but at Entr'Ados, we are already thinking of the spring! Indeed, our team is presently working on From the Seed to the Green Roof a great urban agriculture project that will start next March. Our goal is to recruit 10 adolescents in Hochelaga who would adopt a mini-greenhouse of seeding at home and discover the world of urban agriculture through a series of workshops. In May, we would plant our fledgling plants on our new green roof. We are very enthusiastic about this project because we know it can give youth a rewarding and gratifying after-school experience. Thank you for praying with us that God would help us reach the budding gardeners who are in our hearts!

Chaque semaine, les membres du groupe Prêchons la paix - Preaching Peace se recueillent en début de rencontre pour écrire une prière collective. Cette prière représente qui est Dieu pour eux à ce moment-là. Elle souligne aussi Ses bienfaits et présente leur pétition pour la ville. C’est un exercice spirituel qui les amène à prendre une pause pour célébrer l’œuvre de Dieu tout en plaidant pour son soutien. Each week, participants of our Preaching Peace group gather tougher and write a prayer of collect at the beginning of our meeting. This prayer represents who God has been for us that week. It underlines God’s blessings and expresses our prayers for the city. It is a spiritual exercise that leads us to pause and celebrate the work of God while continuing to ask for God’s help.

Aujourd’hui, nous aimerions attirer votre attention sur les sans-abri et les services qui leur viennent en aide. CARE Montreal, l’un de nos partenaires, a récemment ouvert un nouveau refuge temporaire qui aide 112 personnes additionnelles à Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Il a aussi lancé l’initiative innovatrice Project Igloo. SAINT-LAURENT & GIVING TUESDAY Together, we give for the cooking workshops for immigrant women in Saint-Laurent! Il est au rendez-vous, quatre fois par semaine et ne manque pas une occasion de jouer une partie de babyfoot (la table n'a jamais autant servi). Lorsque tu "bac Entr'Ados" tu "bac" aussi Bruno et des jeunes comme lui qui participeront à notre projet de toit vert au printemps prochain. A WORD FROM THE EXCUTIVE DIRECTOR Radical Generosity, by Tim Keener There is a story about the Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy, who during a devastating famine was approached by a beggar. Tolstoy searched his pockets for something to give but discovered he didn't even have a single coin. He took the beggar's worn hands and said, Don't be angry with me, my brother, I have nothing with me. The thin lined face of the beggar lit up. He whispered in reply, But, sir, you called me ...‘brother’that is the greatest gift you could give me. Tolstoy is also known for saying, My piece of bread only belongs to me when I know that everyone else has a share, and that no one starves while I eat. The greatest acts of generosity are those of deep sacrifices. Not only when we give out of abundance, but when our compassionate impulse to give requires personal sacrifice. Generosity is born out of the radical idea of emptying ourselves and coming into communion with the needs of others. When we practice this type of radical generosity we reveal God’s likeness in us. We are currently raising funds for our initiatives around Montreal, from the West-Island, to the ville Saint-Laurent, to downtown Peter-McGIll, to Hochelaga Maisonneuve.
