Acknowledging the difficult times its good to see some sign that spring is on the way. Here are the first flowers of the season - sagebrush buttercup (Ranunculus glaberrimus) in Kelowna some 250km south of Wells Gray.

I discovered this rare phenomenon of a snow roller or snow donut on the Adams Lake Road on February 3. These only occur with very specific conditions of moisture, snow and temperature, and in this case gravity having formed by rolling down a steep bank. The closer image shows a pen for scale it was about 52cm in diameter.
