We’re all adults here. We can share stories, we can relate to each other, and I think that’s what makes the Discovery Centre so different! Finding a place that you belong helps you achieve your goals. At the Discovery Centre, you study with other adults who you can relate to in a relaxed classroom environment. There are a lot of challenges that can go on that can lead to someone not finishing high school the first time. The Discovery Centre realizes there are many reasons why someone might not finish high school the first time. Kevin, like many other students, still found a place to succeed and complete his education. Several teachers are ready to provide you with support that may not have been there when you were a high school student. Anne Marie greatly appreciates the support that is offered every day at the Discovery Centre. There is more time to ask questions, receive friendly responses, and the ability to learn at a pace that feels right for each student. Discovery Centre wishes to recognize Roxanne Seward, who won our scholarship earlier this year! In selecting a student to recieve this award, Discovery Centre used the same criteria as with the Clemens Memorial: we looked for students who value education, fairness and self-improvement. Roxanne Seward was a natural choice. A respectful and friendly student at our Waterford Bridge Road location, she was always considerate of the needs of others. She proved her commitment to sel...f-improvement with a strong effort in all her work. Roxanne stayed engaged over the summer, working to earn credits from home while our classrooms were closed. Her work ethic made us proud to call her our student. Congratulations, Roxanne! This scholarship was well earned. We hope your hard work continues to lead you to success. Best of luck!

We leave high school for many reasons A lot of the time it’s out of our control. The Discovery Centre realizes that leaving high school is not always a result of your actions. Anne Marie explains the various roadblocks that would prevent someone from finishing high school on their first try. We agree that these situations are beyond your control But at our schools, you can make the choice to finish what you started. Watching students succeed is the most rewarding part of working at a school. Everyone working at Discovery Centre, as a teacher or otherwise, has been inspired by a student. Sometimes it's graduation: the diploma, the cap and pictures. Other times a student might reach a personal goal. Most inspiring of all are students who return to our program after having left. They didn't give up. But this past summer, COVID-19 challenged us all. Instructors couldn't see their students su...cceed. There was no graduation ceremony to attend. No one knew if our schools would open their doors in September, but we did- at all locations. When students went back to their Discovery Centre, staff were ready with support. Together, they found success. Scholarships, completed goals, new enrolments and now, three graduations back-to-back! We are proud to say that at our schools, the students are our biggest inspiration. Congratulations, all!
