Happy Canada Day! Just a friendly reminder that there will be no fireworks in Providence Bay for Canada Day. The postponed fireworks show will hopefully be shot off later this year, but is currently to be determined. Stay safe!

Discovery Centre Officially Closed for the Season and Providence Bay Canada Day Fireworks Postponed. The Discovery Centre Board and the Municipality of Central Manitoulin have officially decided that in the interest of public safety and the safety of volunteers, staff and primarily seasonal student staff that we will not be opening the Discovery Centre for the 2020 season due to COVID-19 public health situation. The sector specific guidelines associated with opening such a f...acility are not feasible at this time and the Municipality does not have the resources to properly operate the Discovery Centre in accordance with those guidelines. The Providence Bay Canada Day Fireworks have been postponed to an undetermined date. In consultation with Public Health we have decided that advertising and promoting a mass gathering such as fireworks does not align with the Provincial Guidelines on gatherings and social distancing at this time. We thank all of our visitors and residents for your continued support and understanding.

The Discovery Centre Board and the Municipality of Central Manitoulin are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and regulations for re-opening tourism sites. Currently, there are no firm plans on opening the Discovery Centre on its regular opening date which is usually around July 1st. The Harbour View Centre - currently the indoor bathrooms are closed to the public but the outdoor bathroom/change house is converted to single use. The tenant restaurant "Huron Island Time" business is open in the Harbour Centre.

What a fantastic season of learning about Providence Bay! We are now closed for the season. Can't wait till we open in summer 2020 to see what is new. Keep warm this winter and thank you for visiting.
