Four study models of a proposed concrete batch plant in Calgary. Our design for The Recreation Centre (City of Vernon) was thought to activate the front patio to provide for a stimulating environment taking advantage of the lush creekside foreground to the building. A kiosk space developed as part of the main entry reinforces the active patio area as well as integrating the building in a more meaningful way with the landscape. The kiosk is expressed as a contrasting object to the simple lines of the existing complex.
