Please note proper hand signals. Slow, being commonly mis used as last rider.
Saw lots of sleds out this weekend! Hope everyone had a good ride! There’s a few things I wanted to touch on and a few pictures to post from our opening weeken...d so I figured I’d make a Sunday evening recap post. First of all I wanted to thank our trail volunteers and grooming staff for the top notch work this first week of the 2021 season. They’ve done a terrific job and will continue to be out working this week. We had a few members clear some brush in Orleans today so the groomer will be able to pass. Also Ian and I went out today to add a few signs in Carlsbad Springs and on the KOC trail. We’ve received a few messages from land owners about snowmobiles trespassing on their properties so I have to ask again, PLEASE STAY ON TRAIL. We’ve already had someone go off trail to cut a corner and take out a section of electric fence. Also had a few freshly planted commemorative trees ran over.. not the kind of stuff we want to hear one week in. Also just a reminder to pay close attention and watch your speed on the shared use trails. There was just as many dog walkers and cross country skiers as snowmobiles on the rail beds this weekend. Hope everyone was safe and had fun! If you have pictures from your weekend ride post them below!
Very en-light-ening ...
Glad to meet up with our friends with the OPP S.A.V.E. Team along the BEAST/WCSTA 311. Keep your speed under 50 Km/hr.
Support those who support us!
We need more snow!
Come out and support your club.
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit ordered the temporary closure of snowmobile trails within its region to all riders on January 18 (effective Janua...ry 21), and many are wondering what action the OFSC has taken. Since last week, we have been trying to get an appointment with that Medical Officer of Health but to date his office has not confirmed a meeting. Meanwhile, on behalf of all its clubs, volunteers and permit holders, the OFSC sent a letter to the Premier, to Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Medical Officers of Health of all public health units, and to Ontario MPP’s. Our letter emphasizes what the OFSC has been doing provincially since early fall to comply with public health measures and states our serious concerns with any arbitrary regional or local trail closure imposed without prior consultation with our local clubs, districts or the OFSC itself and without appropriate consideration of the many safety, trespass and economic ramifications of any such decision. We are pleased to report that our message was well received and that no other public health units appear to be considering restricting snowmobile trails within their regions at this time. Our Manager of Government Relations continues to reach out to our broad range of government contacts to advocate for keeping snowmobile trails as a permitted activity across Ontario. See more
Trail Patrol is out an about.
NVSA needs some volunteers to help out! Who is going to answer the call?
Wise message here.
We only have a very small portion of trails in this PHU, but important news anyway.
First time out grooming !
