Just some tips for Understanding the Needs of seniors... but most of all treat them as an individual. 1. Adapt the caregiving routine based on the seniors mood and needs. 2. Help but preserve self respect by not overly helping...allow them to do tasks they are capable of doing. 3.Try to find ways in which your older relative/ parent can help you around the house if they live with you. 4. Don't speak about your older relative/parent as if they are not there...include them in ...conversations. 5. Listen to them...this helps with self esteem. 6. Make sure that their living environment is safe and free of clutter. What are your thoughts?

The best way to help a person receiving care is to understand that person's needs...which in turn helps with their self esteem! Food for thought!
