I'm hearing that the book is starting to arrive (though some are late because of Covid-related delays). If you like the book, please consider leaving a review on the site where you purchased it -- Amazon, B&N, Indigo -- or on any site you might belong to like Goodreads or BookBub. Thanks very much!

I feel like celebrating!! A long, long time ago, I wrote a college paper, and came across some information that triggered a lifetime obsession. Part one of that obsession is being released on Sept. 15, and I'm throwing an online party with special guests, like Flora's grand grand niece and Métis history educator Fern Perkins (and more). It's free (but BYOB, of course). Come join us and chat about some fascinating history!! Just register on Side Door to get the link, here: https://sidedooraccess.com/shows/fLuk7fiqdhc2EJh3EvfW

A last living relic of the Hudson Bay Company's time in Fort Vancouver--an apple tree planted in 1826--has died. A tree older than Victoria. Older than British Columbia. https://www.cnn.com//old-apple-tree-vancouver-w/index.html

Pre-Order links are coming online for In Her Own Footsteps: Flora Ross and Her Struggle for Identity and Independence in the Colonial West. U.S. and Canadian links are posted on the website www.butterwortbooks.com, and will be updated as new ones are online, especially for independent bookstores. The Canadian prices for hardcover and paperback have increased above the suggested retail price given exchange rate changes since the book is printed in the U.S., and I hope they will come back down soon.
