Happy Wednesday! The Bank of Canada met today and, no surprise, they have left their overnight rate steady which means no changes to the Prime rate. We are not expecting any increases until inflation gets back to 2% and that is likely not going to happen until 2023. Canada continues to struggle with unemployment, especially for youth and low-wage workers, and should new lockdowns be required this will certainly impact the economy further. The Bank of Canada met this morning and, as expected, no rate changes were announced. The Bank will keep their overnight rate low, likely for a couple of years, and expect economic recovery to take time. Next meeting is Oct 28th. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/bank-of-canada-1.5717052
