Santa will be hitting the streets of Maple Ridge with the City of Maple Ridge’s 10-Vehicle Christmas Convoy on December 5 starting in the Town Centre core at 6:...00 PM. The convoy will visit surrounding neighbourhoods until approximately 7:00 PM. We will be providing music on the FM transmitter on the day of as we drive around the City that will have a range of approximately 5km, so remember to tune your radio to 89.3FM! That way you can track Santa while enjoying some holiday cheer. We encourage you put on a warm coat, put some hot chocolate in a travel mug and watch the convoy drive by! The cards will be going into Quarantine to ensure the safety of the seniors before they are handed out. See more

A lot can happen in a year. In 2020 we faced COVID, a major business pivot and a heartbreaking loss. There were moments where we simply weren’t ok, moments when... we found ourselves so overwhelmed. Our community stood beside us during all of this. Mum and I felt heard, seen, valued, loved and so supported. We had no idea how many angels were ready to stand beside us through all of the uncertainty. Rather than focus on how awful this year was, I’d like to focus on lessons learned and highlight just a few of the moments that carried us through this year. We always say Once Upon a Tea Leaf is where your story begins. In our family, before we tackle any major challenge, share good news or celebrate; we put the kettle on. In March when we closed the shop for community safety, we made a promise to stand in love for our community because we know everyone was likely feeling the same pressure we were. With the help of some amazing people we launched the Communitea project and delivered tea to seniors, first responders and other amazing humans that were nominated. We know a cup of tea wasn’t going to cure the pandemic but it could provide a moment to exhale and feel comfort and warmth. At the end of November, our dear Georgie went into hospice. Our team ( and our family in a HUGE way) stepped in and gave Mum and I the grace to be absent from the shop during our busiest times to hold vigil by Georgie’s bedside during his final moments . The team worked to take the pressure off of us to give us the space we needed to say goodbye. We cannot say thank you enough to our dream team for this. When searching for best practices during the early days of reopening business, we wanted to make sure we were doing everything right to keep our staff and community safe. T rallied the City of Maple Ridge, the BIA, Chamber of Commerce, our local MLA’s, Fraser Health to moderate a town hall for all local businesses to ask questions about how to safely reopen, cleaning protocols, how to rehire staff, ask about temporary patios and everything in between. It felt like the business community came together to help restart our local economy and it was so powerful to have everyone so unite
