Can you identify the problem here?? Ellie presented for a dental cleaning at our Merritt clinic. As our technician started cleaning her teeth, she quickly realized that Ellie had abnormal dentition. She had 2 extra teeth! The first picture shows her extra teeth, the second and third photos are the dental radiographs of said teeth. Super cool case for the day!! *the extra teeth are circled in a picture in the comments*

Spring is in the air! Warmer weather makes everyone want to spend time outside - but our pets aren't the only ones enjoying the warm weather. Parasites than can cause harmful disease in our pets are also coming out of hiding. One in particular that we will start seeing are mosquitos. Mosquitos are the intermediate host for heartworm, and it only takes 1 mosquito bite to infect your furry friend. Please call us today to get your annual heartworm and tick screen done so they can start on heartworm prevention for the year! We look forward to seeing each and every one of you. 519-360-4508
Sometimes the little critters in our area wander and get lost or stuck. For all your wildlife inquiries, a great place to contact is Hope Haven Wildlife Rescue located in Merlin, ON. This non-profit organization is equipped to handle wildlife whereas some local shelters are not. Never hesitate to give them a call! http://www.ontariowildliferescue.ca/contact.php Vetoquinol Canada
Just an FYI... Fleas and ticks are STILL out and looking for a blood meal. We have had a very mild winter so far, and are still seeing lots of both fleas and ticks. We always recommend year-round flea/tick prevention for your furry friends, but now more than ever. Call us today to discuss prevention for your animal!
There are so many amazing things about the holidays, however there are also many things that are... well... not so amazing. Your furry friends may be intrigued by all the decor or plants around the house this time of year that could potentially harm them. Furthermore, some of the foods that may seem delicious to your animals, may not be the best choice for them. Fatty foods can cause pancreatitis and gastric upset, while other foods can cause kidney damage. Please be aware of these hazards and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to give us a call!
We have LOTS of new toys that were just dropped off by Santa Paws last night! Come by our Merritt location to pick up a new toy for your furry friend for Christmas.
Happy Monday everyone! We will be closing from 1-2:30pm this Friday, December 18th for staff training. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation!

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY!! We rarely see female orange kitties, but what's better than ONE female orange cat?! TWO female orange cats!! meet Nacho and Cheese! These two little girls came in for their spay surgery last week. Also, does anyone notice the toes on the left one? Nacho had extra toes... this is called being polydactyl! What a feat
Is your senior pet having troubles getting up, going up and down stairs, or walking for long periods of time? If so, that may be a sign of pain due to aging of the body. There are many supplements and/or medications that can help keep your pet comfortable in their golden years. If you are concerned about your pet's mobility, please call us today to book an exam.
We are accepting food donations with all products going to PAWR here in Chatham! The shelter animals would be forever grateful if you donated a bag or can of food to them.
We would like to formally welcome our newest veterinarian to the DMS team! Dr. Bali has worked all over the world. He grew up on a farm in India, where he graduated from Veterinary Medicine with distinction. Dr. Bali has continued his education in many different countries, including India, Australia, United States, and Canada. He has been working in North America as a veterinarian since 2011. Dr. Bali is married to an ICU nurse and has a son and a daughter that all live in Brampton. In his spare time, he loves gardening, music and the wilderness. He always has a smile on his face and is a true jokester. If you see him at the Merritt clinic, be sure to give him a warm welcome!

Thank you for your understanding, we appreciate it! Have a GREAT Friday!

Since it is senior focus month, we thought we would shed some light on a certain topic - senior diets! If you have a pet that is over the age of 7, they are considered senior! Senior pets require different nutrition than adults or puppies/kittens. There are lots of great senior diets that we can recommend. If you have questions regarding your senior pet's food, please feel free to give us a call - we are happy to help!
Seniors rule! If you have a senior pet (over the age of 7 years), it is always a good idea to have them examined by a veterinarian yearly. An annual exam can help to catch early stages of disease, and ensures that your pet is healthy. Call us today to book an exam with one of our amazing veterinarians!
Today is National Cookie day... your dog/cat deserves a cookie today (and maybe their paw-rents do too?)!

Dear valued clients, As we approach the holidays, please be aware that there will be a few changes to our hours. These changes are posted below: December 24th, 2020 - 9:00am to 1:00pm December 25th and 26th, 2020 - closed... December 27th, 2020 - closed December 31st, 2020 - 9:00am to 1:00pm January 1st, 2021 - closed. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these times!
The holidays are approaching quickly! With this, comes cold weather and darker evenings. Please remember to be considerate of your pets in this weather; if it is too cold for you to stay outside for a long period of time it is likely too cold for your pets to be outside. Ensure your pets are secure in your yard when outside in the dark, as pets may easily get lost. Enjoy the upcoming holidays with your furry friends!
Increased demand from new furry family members and changes to policies designed to keep our team, clients, and pets safe, have all led to less appointment availability than usual. Please know that we are doing our best to continue serving you and your furry family members. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
