FYI The Province of Nova Scotia has recently permitted the opening of boating and sailing clubs for the purpose of getting your boat ready for the season. Marinas and common areas are closed. Transport Canada has set out the following guidelines:... Only take people from your immediate household on your boat with you. No family members who don’t live in your house with you No boating buddies No other guests When preparing to leave shore and on the water, try and keep a distance of two arm lengths from other boats and people who don’t live in your household. This length is approximately 1/2 canoe 1 fishing rod 1 1/2 wakeboards If social distancing is going to be difficult, a face mask is encouraged. Transport Canada also discourages lending your equipment to others. Stay Safe

April 11th 2020, Members of Dobson Yacht Club, We hope all of you are safe and well, as we find ourselves at the beginning of another boating season. During this unprecedented and uncertain times, your health and well being, and of all the community, is of the up most importance. ... The board members decided to suspend the club operations on March 15th 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Since that time the Nova Scotia Public Health Office has placed orders banning the opening of bars and restaurants province wide and remains in effect. Now the province is in a State of Emergency, we are being told to Stay Home and no group gatherings by both the Premier Stephen MacNeil and Nova Scotia’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Strang, the executive has decided, Dobson Yacht Club will comply with these instructions. The provincial government via Sail Nova Scotia has asked clubs throughout the province to converse the following to their members: Provincial directives to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 apply to all individuals, including sailors and sailing clubs. Please stay in your home or neighbourhood and avoid all non-essential travel. Effective April 11th 2020 Dobson Yacht Club will close all access to outdoor storage yards, wharves, moorings, docks, and indoor facilities, except for essential services. We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but ask you to please respect this decision. The executive will keep you informed, hoping this temporary closer will be short and will see you on the waters again as soon as possible. On behalf of the Dobson Yacht Club Executive, be safe and thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, David Ingraham Commodore
