DOC Institute Honours Awards About this Event (Members and non-members are welcome. Tickets are free for members. $10 for non-members) Join us at 7pm EST on Thursday, December 10 to celebrate the best of Canadian documentary filmmaking this year, hosted by Garvia Bailey! Every year we look forward to giving two awards; the Luminary Award is given to an individual who embodies the creative spirit of the Canadian documentary tradition and displays generosity by supporting the n...ext generation of doc-makers through mentorship, working behind the scenes to ensure that the genre remains strong for generations to come. The Vanguard Award is given to an emerging or mid-career professional filmmaker, who demonstrates a keen artistic sensibility and forward thinking approach to the craft, with the potential to lead the next generation of doc-makers. Things are a little different this year, but DOC remains committed to recognizing essential filmmaking nonetheless. We are pleased to announce the 7th annual DOC Institute Honours Awards - this time, presented virtually! https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/7th-annual-doc-institute-honour

That feeling you’re having that everyone has something in the works except you is not born out of reality. Not every filmmaker is in production right now or prepping for production or even close to prepping. https://dearproducer.com/smoke-and-mirrors/

Congratulations Alanis Obomsawin For me, my career is about the voice, said Obomsawin, during a break in shooting. The words are even more important than the images. I’m very careful in listening, to make sure I don’t take anything out of context. https://www.theglobeandmail.com//article-filmmaker-alanis/
