Remember, kids should be getting their first eye exam at 6 months of age and then again before they start kindergarten! While vision screenings in school can detect some issues, many are often missed

Did You Know? Convergence is the coordinated movement and focus of our two eyes inward on close objects, including phones, tablets, computers, and books. It i...s one of many Vital Visual Skills learned during our early years, as we begin to make sense of the world and how to use our eyes to take it all in. Convergence Insufficiency is a common problem with the development of these skills. When convergence is insufficient, it means that the eyes do not come together closely enough when looking at a near object (dashed lines in above image), so the eyes are essentially looking "past" the target focal point (orange lines). Find out more from one of our doctors here: http://locate.covd.org/

In order to slow the transmission of COVID-19 throughout our community, we have decided to take the proactive decision to close our office effective end of today (March 20) through at least to April 6, 2020. This is very difficult as we are a small family-owned business with staff members and families that rely on us to remain open, On the other hand, we must be responsible physicians and do our part to limit the spread of COVID-19. The health and safety of our families and p...atients come first. Please consider supporting us by coming in to see us and purchasing contact lenses/glasses from us in the future to help us recover from this. Please be assured that we are still available to triage all urgent and emergent issues in order to keep all eye-related emergencies away from the hospitals that need to focus on being prepared to handle the COVID-19 related visits. What does that mean? 1) If you need to replace glasses or contact lenses and need an extension on your prescription, please contact us and we will help you. 2) If you are running out of eye medication, please contact us and we can transmit a refill electronically to your pharmacy. 3) If you have an issue that cannot wait for an office visit please contact us either via Facebook, leave a message on our answering machine (204-467-8044), or email us at [email protected] (possibly for the fastest response). One of our doctors will try their best to meet you in the office whenever possible. 4) Remove your contact lenses every night. Even if youve been told that they are safe to sleep in and youve been doing it for 10 years. This will be the one time you get an eye infection because thats just the way that life works. And now is not the time! 5) Throw away your contact lenses out on time. If you are not sure, send us a message. 6) During this period of social distancing and quarantine, we must all do our part by restricting activities outside the home except for getting medical care and food/drink supplies. 7) Wash your hands frequently. and well! Together we will weather this storm, With sincerest wishes for your continued good health, we remain at your service, Drs. Dunford, McCrae and McMahon and the entire team at Doctors Vision Centre Stonewall.

There is no feeling like the one you get when you genuinely help someone. Today we had a post concussion vision therapy patient report that in just 2 months of... vision therapy her daily life has changed drastically. Initially 2 minutes of screen time caused nausea, headache, and intense eye strain. Now she can work on the computer comfortably for extended periods of time, and when you are running your husbands business, this is a huge win! Cheers to you! See more
