As a doula accessibility is very important to me. I never want financial barriers to come between a birthing person getting the support and help they so deserve! Unfortunately, these barriers do exist all too often. In an attempt to make things a bit more accessible I have changed my service fees to a sliding scale model and also have payment plan options. If you want doula support and the sliding scale numbers are too high for you, reach out and we can work something out! #doula #doulasupport #fernie #eastkootenays #birthwork #accessibility #doulasofinstagram

Birth as Ceremony Birth is such a politically potent site of transformation! All communities have ceremonies around birth and it is so important that those are revitalized and supported in ALL birth settings! One of my personal favourites is to have a gathering called a blessing way a few weeks before the due date. At the blessing way you can have your closest support people with you and distribute a candle to each of them. When you go into birth, you or your birth partner can notify your blessing way group and they will all light their candle in honour of you and your birth to come What are your favourite birth ceremonies and traditions? #doula #doulasofinstagram #birthworker #fernie #birthasceremony #eastkootenays #elkvalley #reproductivehealth

Tips for being a great birth partner! My doula teacher taught us that your interventions should always match the energy and stage of labour. No one wants to be tickled during transition ;) Thanks Louise for being my model! #doula #doulasupport #doulaservices #birthworkers #ferniebc #ferniechamber #eastkootenays #elkvalley #reproductiverights #reproductivehealth

Raspberry Leaf is an incredible herbal medicinal for the uterus! The leaves are healing for both menstrual uterine cramps as well as toning the uterus in preparation for birth! Try out the following infusion! Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons of dried raspberry leaf in a cup of hot boiling water and let infuse for five minutes before straining and drinking! I also love making a big batch and keeping it chilled in the fridge as an iced tea ... #fernie #birth #doula #birthworker #eastkootenays #herbal #herbalmedicine #doulasofinstagram #holistichealth #reproductivejustice #maternalhealth #uterus See more

They told you about the contractions, but did they tell you about the expansion? Did they tell you how your body would open to make way for the whole universe ...to pass through? Did they tell you how your heart would explode with a love bigger than anything you’ve ever known as you pulled your baby to your chest? They told you about the ring of fire but did they tell you about the crown of stars? Did they mention that there’s a moment when your baby enters the world and you leave your body and touch the heavens and become the light of a million galaxies? Did they tell you how the pain of stretching to receive your child would be more exquisite than any sensation you've felt? They told you would scream but did they tell you about how would you roar? Did they tell you about the power that would rise up from your belly as you called your baby forth with your mighty voice? Did they tell you how you would embody the wild woman within you as breathe fire with your song? They told you would bleed, but did they tell you how that sacred blood wouldn't scare you? How you would feel grateful for that magical liquid of life as it trickled down your leg - how you would honour its flow and how it would help you heal a lifetime of hating your body's bleeding cycle. They told these stories and taught you to fear birth, to fear your power, to fear yourself. But you are stronger and wiser than that mama. You know that birth is your divine dance, your soul's song, your moment with God, and you walk fearlessly into her open arms. Beautiful words and art by: Catie from Spirit Y Sol .

Abortion is healthcare! Access to safe abortion is vital and many females do not have the privilege of having that access. One of my passions as a doula is destigmatizing and demistifying abortion. Check out my story for info on what an abortion is, what your options are and what to expect. #abortionishealthcare #abortionrights #reproductivejustice #doula #birthdoula #fernie #doulasofinstagram #uterus #wellness #maternalhealth @ Fernie, British Columbia

Support Black Mamas! Repost from @heybelovedmama I AM MAMA is a movement bc us mamas are moving. Don’t stop! We fight til we win. George, we heard your cry for Mama! We wept as we listened, and we realized that Mama was also justice, air, and love. Black mamas understood and white mamas stood and declared I AM MAMA! We are all running to answer you. ... I AM MAMA - I am bold. I am bold enough to challenge and confront any and all racism and fear with in my own heart. I recognize that this is the most important work I can do. I AM MAMA - I speak. I fearlessly speak, challenge, and confront all acts of racism in my home, my place of worship, my work, in my grocery store, and any place where I am present. My voice cannot be silenced because of fear or thoughts of inadequacy. I AM MAMA - I protect. I fight to protect those who are in danger. I AM MAMA - l comfort. I seek to comfort the pain and the lamenting of others. Because I am a mama I instinctively know when my shoulder is needed to cry on, and when my arms are needed to hug. I AM MAMA - I listen. I listen to opinions that are uncomfortable and unlike mine for the sake of my children. I AM MAMA- I see. I see the differences in others. I am not color blind, however, I am color aware. Blindness leads to unawareness, unawareness leads to inaction. I act because I can see. My awareness of our differences empowers me to truly love unconditionally and appreciate every uniqueness. I AM MAMA - I learn. I take the time to learn the world outside of my own, realizing that the experiences of others are valid and real. I do not discredit what is unfamiliar to me or what makes me uncomfortable. My teachable heart cultivates wisdom in my actions. I AM MAMA - I teach. I teach my children to love others as we love ourselves. I teach my children through the example that I AM. I AM MAMA - I heal. I tirelessly pour out my love to assurethat every child, of every color, has the same privileges as the next. I AM MAMA - because of my love - and loving is what I do best. This is our battle cry! I. AM. MAMA! George, we hear you. And we are here. I AM MAMA! See more
