Your dog just got sprayed by a skunk. Your first instinct will be to wash him off. WRONG! When you wet your dog you are opening the pores of your dog's fur allowing the skunk oil to penetrate the fur. The smell will be very hard to get out and will linger for months every time he gets wet.... HERE'S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO Pop the dog in the bathroom or away somewhere safe. Make up a paste to apply right away. Baking soda ( start with about 2 cups) Hydrogen peroxide Blue Dawn dish soap Mix baking soda with enough hydrogen peroxide to make a thin paste. Add a couple drops of dish detergent. Apply paste to skunked areas. Let sit 10 min. Then wash your dog with regular dog shampoo.

Soak briefly, about 20 seconds or more, and pat dry. Do not rinse. Repeat often, at least 4x per day until healed.
