Here’s our old friend Ollive rocking her new Baltic amber collar! Ollive spends a ton of time in New Ross at the family orchard which is a hot spot in Nova Scotia for ticks. Her owner was hesitant at first and purchased it for aesthetic reasons but was happy to report that she’s yet to find a tick on Ollive this season (compared to a half dozen picked off this time last year). We have 10 sizes of handmade Baltic amber collars which are available at Doggy Styles and will soo...n be on our website (we can also ship to you). All sizes are $30. Genuine Baltic amber is a fossilized tree resin that was formed over 45 million years ago, so it is naturally light weight. Amber contains succinic acid, a natural analgesic and healing agent. How does it work? Amber has a natural smell that is unpleasant to most pests, especially ticks and fleas. The smell of the resin is released when it is worn against the dog's fur, as the dog's natural body heat slightly warms the amber that causes the scent to emerge.

Please do not give your animals any of these products, there are safe natural alternatives, we carry Baltic Amber collars, after a few days of wearing them, the animals absorb minerals from the stone into their bodies and it creates a static in their fur, insects will not go near them. Also pesticide based products do not stop fleas and ticks from attaching to your animal or biting them, the pesticide kills them on bite as your animals blood is full of poison. Sadly many people loose their pets every year due to these products that frankly should be banned.

Does your pug suffer from the heat, not sure if their breed should be shaved? We shave lots of them, their coats are very thick and the warm weather is difficult for them. Sweet little Rudy came in today for his summer makeover, he looks and feels great now

Cute little Tucker came in for a makeover today, apparently he was banned from the groomer in Shortts Lake and his mom was told he was very aggressive, this is the third time I’ve heard a similar story and each time the dogs were fine for me to groom and didn’t require muzzles or any restraints. This job does take patience and if the groomer is not calm the anxiety will transfer to the animals.
