Copy, fill in personal information and any other concerns and send to Doug Ford [email protected] as well as your local MPP It may be good to also mention that you will go straight home and not be out and about running errands etc. while your pet is at... the groomer. And that will abide by the stay at home order. Only essential services. Dear ___________, My name is ______ and I reside in ___________-, Ontario, Canada. I am writing as a constituent of your governing area to express my concerns of the current lockdown of Ontario’s Pet Groomers. I would like to bring to your attention this part of the mandate located at: ontario. ca/laws/regulation/200082, Section 22 under Schedule 2 (Businesses that are allowed to be open) Other businesses that provide services to animals that are necessary for their health and welfare including farms, boarding kennels, stables, animal shelters and research facilities. As a voting citizen who has taken on the responsibility of owning an animal, I can attest to the fact that the grooming of that animal is absolutely essential to their health and welfare. Having grooming services unavailable has left my pet in danger of becoming matted putting them at risk of skin infections as well as pain and discomfort. My groomer regularly performs ear care on my pet, preventing infections as well as performs regular sanitary trims which are important for the health of the humans who reside with them. Personally, my pet’s groomer was adhering to all the COVID health and safety measures and I felt very safe as they were able to perform their service physically distanced and without human to human contact. I am writing to ask you to specifically address the wording in Section 22 under Schedule 2 to include pet groomers as they are an integral part of my pet’s health team of professionals. I understand that we must all do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 but I disagree with the forced closure of Pet Groomers as they are essential to the health and welfare of our pets and should be allowed to work as long as they can adhere to the safety measurements laid out by your government.
