Is anyone looking to volunteer for an amazing project this Christmas? Im going to help out at Smiles For Seniors again this year and if youd like to join me - it would be great to have you along. The Smiles For Seniors program has been operating for over 30 years in the Lower Mainland. It provides Christmas packages to seniors who live in long term care facilities and have no family. The packages include clothing, chocolates, warm hats, gloves, socks, toiletries etc. One of... the most requested items is KLEENEX! It is humbling to see how such little things can bring huge delight to people who have been largely forgotten by society. Every year the charity receives heartfelt letters of thanks and appreciation that will touch your heart. Without these packages the seniors would receive nothing at Christmas. Last year the program provided 200 packages of gifts (see photos attached of some of them) If you are still reading this THANK YOU..... here are the ways you can help: 1. Share this post on your timeline and ask your friends to message me (Rachel Fisher) if they would like to help out. 2. Get together with a group of family/friends/co-workers to "adopt a senior" and shop for much needed items. 3. If you are short on time, provide a cash donation and someone else will do the shopping for you. (We do not provide tax receipts. We are not a registered charity.) 4. If you are short on cash, volunteer your time to shop for items and/or help deliver packages to the care facilities. Its such a worthy cause and we could really use your help!!
