Dr. Wrinch is back in Seattle for a week to learn more about implants and complicated bites. Don’t worry, while she is away learning, Dr. Onno is at the office looking after our patients!

This is how we fog the office each day. We use hypochlorous acid which we make in our office. Cool!

What is this? It is our new fogging machine. We will be making hydrochlorous acid, a weak acid and effective disinfectant against the covid-19 virus. Hydrochlorous acid is safe for humans, animals and plants. We will be fogging the office routinely to keep our patients safe.

Effective Tuesday May 19th, our office will be open for business. We are excited to have the opportunity to welcome you back! Our office has always utilized personal protective equipment (PPE) that has exceeded all provincial guidelines; however, in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have instituted additional guidelines and protocols to ensure your safety. You will see many changes, as we have new ways of scheduling your appointments and managing your financial and insurance... transactions. First, you will be contacted 48-72 hours prior to your appointment via phone, text or email and asked a set of health-related questions. It is required that we answer these questions prior to your appointment. We will have to reschedule your appointment if we are unable to complete this step. Below is a list of some of the enhanced precautions we have taken to protect you, in addition to extensive team training on infection control and patient management procedures. 1. Personalized arrival procedures to guide you from your car directly to treatment rooms, to eliminate contacting surfaces. 2. Maintain distancing in the reception area for essential careworkers and parents of minors, if they are unable to wait in a vehicle or outside the office. 3. Removed magazines and items that can harbor or transfer germs of any kind. Hand sanitizers will be positioned throughout the office. 4. Providing more education materials to enhance your awareness of health issues related to this pandemic. Please note that we will not be scheduling any hygiene appointments for at least the first week, as we will be busy addressing the needs of patients who have unfinished treatments (temporary restorations, root canal treatments and orthodontic treatments) or emergency issues (pain and or swelling) Your Dogwood Family Dentistry Team See more

For the safety of our patients, we will be closed until further notice. Stay safe and stay home. Practice social distancing if you must go out.

The Dogwood Team is thinking of you all, hoping that you are staying home as much as possible, and away from others. As dictated by our BC College, we will be closed on March 17th, and will re-open on Monday April 6th (pending further guidance from the BC College of Dental Surgeons). Once re-opened, we will be prioritizing patients with unfinished treatments and emergencies. In the meantime, help us to flatten the curve!

Today, Halima brought in six month old Anders to his first dental visit ever. Halima has been a patient at Dogwood Family Dentistry Centre since 2004. We are delighted that she has chosen us to provide dental care for her little boy!

In late December 2015, Marwa, Miriam and Khalil, together with their parents arrived in Canada from war-torn Syria. On Friday September 27th, these three became Canadian citizens! Dogwood Family Dentistry has been proud to support our Syrian family, in helping them to settle in their new country, Canada.

This week, Dr. Wrinch and Rebecca attended a four day course on Gold Foil Restorations. The first day was lectures and the the last three days were clinical sessions, working on patients. Does anyone recognize this sweetie (photo taken with Rebecca) who championed through a whole afternoon. Star!

Look who came to visit us yesterday! Meet Caroline Crossley and Kayla Moleschi from our Canadian National Womens Rugby 7s team. Did you know that Caroline is a native of Victoria and that Kayla was raised in Williams Lake? So proud of our Canadian athletes!

This is a video of how gold foils are condensed into the tooth preparations. It is tricky work. The hand that is malleting is Dr. Wrinch, who was assisting for Dr. Margaret Webb, in Morgantown, West Virginia. Of course, Dr. Wrinch has not assisted for another dentist in many years - so she was assigned an assistant for herself! Thank goodness. Thank-you to Payton, a 3rd year dental student from West Virginia University, who assisted for us both.

Here are a few photos taken while Dr. Wrinch was in Morgantown to attend the Annual Meeting for the Academy of RV Tucker Study Clubs. There was a lot of information shared among members, and Dr. Wrinch was inducted into the Executive Council as a Third Councillor, and as the new Director of the Cast Gold Tucker Institute Vancouver. There are two such Institutes in the world, one in Seattle and the other in Vancouver. Yearly the Institute offers a week-long course for dentists to come and learn the cast gold and gold foil techniques taught by Dr. Richard V. Tucker.

On route to a dental meeting in West Virginia, Dr. Wrinch stopped to visit with her friend Dr. Laura Harkin in New Holland, Pennsylvania. Rural Pennsylvania is lovely!

We are on the cusp of fall and many of our patients are heading to university or college. Our children patients are ready for school to start again. Best of luck for the beginning of another year of learning!

Our summer dream team, Madison and Rebecca, wanted to pose today with our new toy. What is it? Why its a bulk impression material extruder. It mixes impression material much more quickly than our manual extruders. Who will be the first patient to benefit from this great new machine?!

Today, Kaili Lukan, a member of the Canadian National Womens Rugby 7s team, dropped by for a visit. Good luck competing in Peru. Your team back home is rooting for you!

Today our UBC dental student Kevin Liu was having so much fun being put to work. Lets keep this guy around for awhile!

Kelly, our 10 year veteran, may be small but mighty. She is our infection control task master and hygienist extraordinaire. Nothing makes Kelly happier than hearing about your new flossing habits!

Bianca Farrella from our Canadian National Womens 7s Rugby Team paid us a visit to pick up her new sports guard. We hope all our athletes are wearing sports guards. Here she is with our 3rd year dental student from UBC Kevin Liu.

So what does Dr. Wrinch use this microscope for? Just about everything that needs a good set of eyes. When needed, the magnification can be turned up to as high as 19 times. Thats pretty useful when we work in millimetres all day long!

Our lovely Edita has decided to spend more time with her family. This means that after 10 wonderful years together at Dogwood Family Dentistry Centre, she will be leaving us. Thank-you Edita for all the care you have given our patients and our team. We will miss you! Keep in touch.

Yesterday after work, some of the Dogwood team went to Contour Dental Ceramics to learn how gold castings are made. We even tried to wax up a few teeth. Super fun and interesting! This is our second visit in Two weeks. Thanks Steve!

This week, Dr. Wrinch is back at the Kois Institute in Seattle to learn and bring back more tricks to Dogwood. Dont worry, we are still open, as Dr. Onno and our hygienists are at the office.

Flossing is great for your teeth, but doing "the floss" is great for lifting the spirits:) Thank you Din for making our day.
