COVID-19 To: DRFN Band Members These measures are applied with the utmost consideration of a potential office quarantine should a staff or band member contract COVID-19. Our goal is to ensure that those seeking assistance from Doig River First Nation can still access our much-needed services.... To ensure decreased risk to band members and staff we are applying the principle of ‘least restrictive means’ in enacting social distancing measures. We are requesting individuals returning from travel outside of Canada avoid socializing/visiting the band hall for 14 days after your return to Canada. Ensuring the health and safety of our member, families, staff, and business partners is our top priority right now. Prevent infection and transmission These common sense practices help prevent infection and transmission: Hand washing Sneeze or cough into your sleeve Avoid touching your face Practice social distancing We are tracking postings from the Provincial and Federal Government and the World Health Organization. Measures Doig River First Nation is taking: Office Closure until March 30th Cleaning and disinfecting will be done frequently touched surfaces once a day. Staff will keep 1 to 2 metres between one another. Ensuring our washrooms remain stocked with soap and hand sanitizer will be available at entrances We will keep band members regularly informed via the Facebook page and by door to door flyers communicating whenever possible and avoid gatherings at our organization. We will continue to support our employees to stay home if they are sick. The best source of up-to-date information on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in British Columbia is the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC): www.bccdc.ca We must all work together to support recommendations from Senior Health officials to reduce the severity of this current situation. We hope that all band members will help each other out, especially the Elders. If you need assistance, do not hesitate to contact Terre Walton, Health and Social Development Manager, or Shona Nelson, Band Manager. The FNHA Nurse will be at the Band Hall this Wednesday if you have any additional questions on COVID 19. We will continue to provide updates as things change.
