Do it For Kids 2019 03.01.2021

As parents of a child with special needs, we spend a large part of our day advocating and working on ways to ensure that our child has opportunities to live up to his full potential. Josh has Down syndrome, and along with that comes weak muscle tone, balance, and motor planning issues. Walking a few blocks is a challenge for him. When Camp Aim Programs invited him to join the adapted soccer team we were skeptical, but excited for him to have this opportunity. It’s very impor...tant for Josh to stay active and as a 9-year-old boy, learning to play soccer would give him a great social boost. When Josh was born, I had so many questions about his future. Yet there I was, at the AIM soccer program, proudly watching my son master the steps towards scoring his first goal. Thank you for making me a soccer mom! When you raise funds for #Spin4Kids, you help give kids of all abilities access to physical activity and fitness programming. Register or donate today: http://bit.ly/2hFD9rp

Cailyn finds her joy when she’s whipping around the court with a basketball. As a result of childhood medical battles, playing with her peers hasn’t always been easy. The Wheelchair Basketball Program at grant recipient KidsAbility Centre for Child Development gives her the chance to stay active, build her skills, connect with other kids, and to have fun.
