This series is called One Mile, using my Mamiya C220 and colour film I photographed my family and surroundings in my hometown, over the course of lockdown. My hometown holds a lot of who I am, however, I’ve never properly photographed it, because for a while it was a great source of pain for me. I wanted to capture feelings that I couldn’t verbalize, and focus on the odd things about it th...at I will always hold dear. Hi! Ava Margueritte (@avamargueritte) here again! These images are from a shoot I did for Kalii Jewelry (@kaliijewelry) which was super neat because before this I hadn’t done editorial work. The pearls were stunning so I couldn’t resist doing an Irving Penn inspired shoot. I used a Pentax 67 with a 120mm lens and butterfly lighting in the SPAO (@spaocentre) studio. We started out pretty strong with lofty goals, immediately got set way back, but the extra space and time has given us a chance to get our things in order and set realistic expectations. We registered as a not-for-profit, assembled a board of directors, applied for grants, built a website, got caught up on housekeeping to run more efficiently, and even made the shift to publishing colour photos.
