Wow - new CMHC directives on debt servicing. I doubt these new numbers 35/42% mean much to our clients. So, we can monetize this to simplify for ourselves and our clients. . Basically one will now (after July 1st) qualify for 10% less mortgage. Say a household earning $100,000 would qualify for a purchase of 5 times that or $500,000 with a 5% down payment. Now, that same buyer will qualify for a purchase of about $450,000. Could vary depending on property taxes and strata fees if any.
