When it was all said and done, we had captured 72.47% of the vote, with an overwhelming 141,182 Edmontonians casting their votes in our column. Thank you. After many months of campaigning, those are the most fitting words I can find to sum up Monday’s decisive election win. -Don

Thank you Edmonton!
We know that there are youth out there who won’t be eligible to vote in the municipal election on October 16th, 2017. We also know that your voices are critical to helping us build a city that is uplifting and inclusive for all its citizens. In short, everything we’re campaigning on, is ultimately for Edmonton’s future. That means YOU!
Everything we campaigned on, is ultimately for Edmonton’s future.
One of my main priorities is running an open and effective local government. Edmonton has been named ‘Canada’s Most Open City’ for THREE years running by the Public Sector Digest and Open Data Exchange. I truly believe the next frontier for governments is how we can use data and analytics to make better evidence-based decisions. We wanted our campaign to 'walk the talk' when it came to data, and I'm incredibly proud of our efforts to explore interesting data sets and how th...ey might impact our city and our campaigning. Through this work, our team discovered how the diversity of our city has changed over the years (I encourage you to have a look at these maps here http://tabsoft.co/2hIpPnl). This information - and all of the data at our disposal - has tremendous potential to influence how we plan, build and live in our city. -Don
Thank you for going all in for Edmonton! We could not have done this without you. With your continued support and your guidance, I really do look forward to serving as your Mayor for four more years. - Mayor Don Iveson

As Edmontonians, we have a lot going for us, but the thing that doesn’t get talked about enough - something that is much harder to package into a brochure - is the incredible quality of life we offer to families. As Edmonton’s young population starts families and plants roots, we need to make sure Edmonton is the best possible place to raise our kids and grandkids. This is the true power of cities to be an uplifting force in the lives of the people who choose Edmonton as t...heir home. -Don
What are you thankful for this year?
Election campaigns are not easy but these sweet surprises remind us why this work is important! Help us cover our campaign office walls with creativity. If you know an artistic youth encourage them to draw something and drop it off at our office or send us a picture and we'll print it for our walls: https://doniveson.ca/contact/

We will be suspending our campaign for the time being while the Mayor works to support law enforcement, city officials and community leaders.

Some thoughts on Orange Shirt day. Great learnings and more resources can be found here: http://bit.ly/2xS2Ks1 hope you found time to reflect on this important day. -Don
While a culture of ‘open by default’ now permeates much of what we do, there’s more work to do to ensure City Hall is open and plain in its dealings with those lobbying members of Council, including the mayor. Because of concerns about backroom dealing, the bond of trust between Edmontonians and their local government are not as strong as they should be. That’s why I’ll be pushing for greater transparency and accountability from all the people you elected to serve. -Don
Let's talk: LRT, urban design, bike lanes & more!
Let's talk: infill, LRT, bike lanes, and urban design. Don Iveson will sit down for a Facebook Live chat this Wednesday, September 27th at 8:30 p.m. Get your questions Ready!
This isn’t a car vs. train vs. bike debate. It’s about recognizing that we are a big city that keeps getting bigger and that we need to build and think like a big city. Big cities plan for the next generation and the generation after that, and they thrive because they have vibrant neighbourhoods and have done the work to keep residents moving as efficiently as possible. We should expect nothing less for Edmonton.... -Don
I have long believed in the power of cities to tackle some of the great challenges of our time. This is especially true when it comes to confronting both the causes and the impacts of climate change. We must be more ambitious with our efforts working with partners, we can transition to green/clean energy sooner, rather than later. Our kids and grandkids demand and deserve nothing less. -Don
One of the most key questions our kids will need an answer to is where will my job come from, and what kind of economic opportunity can I count on in the future in Edmonton? In my second term, if re-elected, my primary focus as Mayor will be on writing a new economic development plan for Edmonton so that we can stay competitive now and into the future. Some thoughts on how we can do this in my latest blog. -Don
