We were SOOOO excited about our Visiting Room opening to Designated Family Caregivers we forgot to post our first family visit. With special permission we took a picture of their first visit is a LONG time...melts the heart doesn't it. Since Donwood Manor did not have space for the temporary visitation rooms, our visitor room was retrofitted into the new Covid-19 Visitation room including a vestibule between outside and inside. Donwood EPH usually hosts their annual Craft and Bake Sale and well...we are all familiar of the story of everything being cancelled. Well...that didn't stop the talented hands of our Donwood tenants from wanting to keep on knitting! This year, rather then selling them at the sale, they are donating them to TWO wonderful organizations @koatsforkids and Union Gospel Mission Winnipeg The average knitter is 85 years young...how AWESOME is that!

Calling on the greater community of Donwood Manor...we NEED YOUR HELP!!! For well over eight months we have been using iPads to help Residents stay connected with family and friends and we NEED MORE!!! Our current situation does not allow for in-person visits and unfortunately that won’t change in the near future. With Christmas coming it is even more important to stay connected. We currently have 16 but ideally we should have one per resident (with restricted group sizes, iPads allow for virtual programming), 105 more is a lofty number but we also know the compassionate, loving and generous supporters of Donwood Manor. Today is Treat Tuesday! Little gestures make for the biggest of ripple. Our staff have been working long, hard hours for months now and we wanted to give them daily reminders of how very GRATEFUL and THANKFUL we are for all they do!!! This is week three of daily treats...Muffin Monday, Treat Tuesday, wagon Wheel Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, Fruit Friday, Soup Saturday and Sweet Sunday.

Today, rather then it being our in person, Soup ‘n Pie event, we celebrated our staff by giving them soup and pie for lunch! They also had their own little fundraiser to purchase Apple TV’s for the units. What a generous bunch!!! Last Friday, students from Calvin Christian School came to our staff room window with Thank You posters and shared messages they wrote on the back. Messages like ‘Thank you for smiling behind your mask even when you are tired’ and ‘Thank you for working long hours caring for and keeping seniors safe.’ This small little act of kindness had perfect timing and lifted the spirits of staff. Many were vklemped. A HUGE thank you to the staff and students thinking of us!

A HUGE heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our NON-Event Soup & Pie Fundraiser. Because of your generosity the Donwood Foundation Auxiliary raised nearly $10,000 to help in the purchase of a specialized mattress, voice amplifier (so our residents can hear our voices through our masks), and Apple TV’s to help make virtual visits even BIGGER!!! Your kindness and giving hearts overflowed our cup!!! THANK YOU!
