Received a cheque for $50 enclosed with a card with this message recently: Dear librarians, My dear friend Anna Strumecki offered me a book [Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan ] to read and take home. Only after finishing the story I realized it was a library book and not one of her give-aways. ... My friend Anna died May 9th and I live far away. I am sending you a cheque to replace the book and if possible ask that a note [be included that reads]: This book donated in memory of Anna Strumecki (who loved to read and loved Denman Island). I know Anna loved your library and it brought her much joy. Again, my apologies for not being able to return this book.
