On the fourth day of Dorset’s Holiday Countdown, our smiles were wide, our hearts were full and our sweaters were far from ugly!

Dear Parents, Although this year’s event will be different than in the past, Dorset Elementary is pleased to be participating in the 2020 Terry Fox School Run to be held Thursday, September 24, 2020 (rain or shine!). Although Dorset always appreciates the involvement of its community, we ask that you support us from home this year.... Grade levels will be running at the same time of day on a different area of Dorset property. Students will remain within their respective class bubbles. Run times will be held in 30 minute blocks. We are proud to be associated with the Terry Fox Foundation and believe that our involvement will help contribute to finding a cure for cancer. In order to eliminate the handling of cash, we ask that donations be made online this year. All monies raised through the event will be forwarded to the Terry Fox Foundation to further the cause of cancer research. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our best wishes to Linda Kollar. Mrs. Kollar has recently taken her retirement this September. She will be deeply missed by students, staff and parents alike. Her numerous contributions to the classroom, the Resource department and many school based committees will be missed by all of us at Dorset. We wish you health and happiness! A big shout-out goes to some very important people working tirelessly behind the scenes. Thank you to Mrs. Maurice and Ms. Lindsay for managing all the paperwork, phone calls, emails and numerous staff questions and concerns. We are so lucky to have your support, especially during these trying times. Thank you to our daycare coordinator, Ms. Lisa. We know how much work you have put in to hiring and scheduling all our daycare staff and lunch monitors. We appreciate all of you...r efforts. Finally, a big thank you to our amazing caretakers...Mr. Eric and Mr. Don. Our school wouldn’t be in tip top shape without your due diligence every single day. Dorset is very lucky to have such a dedicated group of individuals who keep our school safe, organized, and fun!!!

Tomorrow is the first of many amazing things that our kindergarten kids will experience. We hope you have a wonderful day spending time in your classroom and making new friends. First day back was a huge success! Lots to unpack, several books to organize and label, and many important rules to follow to help keep our kiddos safe and happy. Everyone at Dorset School is really looking forward to seeing all our new and returning students. We know there has been a lot of uncertainty and mixed emotions about going back to school.
