Justin Trudeau URGENT PLEASE ORDER A STOP to the cutting of 1000 trees on the Dorval Municipal Golf Course started April 8 This Heritage Green Space must be preserved The Aeroports de Montreal is proceeding with their plan to destroy this 12 ha Heritage Green Space where trees are over 90 years old. Only Prime Minister Trudeau can stop the tree cutting and save the Green Space since the trees are on Federal land. We call on the PM to Designate the area for an Environmental Assessment under CEAA 2012 14(2) This will give all parties a chance to review other options. There are other areas to build a truck inspection station and park planes rather than disturbing a residential area. PLEASE SHARE

Today, I have heard that we have truly lost the battle with the ADM. It is so very sad that this tiny little green space will wiped of the map and all for another useless building at the airport. Here is the final letter from Dave Maloney ~ On Friday April 8, 2016 I spent 6 hours at the Montreal courthouse listening to legal arguments as to why or why not the ADM should be allowed to destroy our Green Space. In the final analysis, the judge ruled in favour of the Transport Ministry and ADM. In its simplest form, he essentially said that the Federal government has complete jurisdiction over all airport facilities and that this power was delegated to the leasers of the federal land thus ADM. He used as the basis of his argument the Supreme Court decision against the city of Mississauga where Mississauga had insisted that the Pearson airport had to follow the bylaws of the city in the construction of buildings on Pearson airport property. Mississauga lost the case. To no avail, our lawyer tried to point out how destroying residential green space and hundreds of hundred year old trees was not the same as a disagreement over building codes. There is something wrong with our system when any group has absolute power and infinite financial resources that can be used against any group that dares to question their decisions. What is that old adage? Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. It was with a very heavy heart when I drove past the Legion today and saw the total destruction of our beautiful trees that once framed the 1st and 9th fairway. I somehow feel we let them down. I am not sure what further steps can be taken in this battle. We have very few legal alternatives. If something is to be done, it must be done at the political level. However, there appears to be little appetite for this from any and all we have approached.
