ECO-FRIENDLY SWAPS for #earthday2020 1. Bring your own straws. A simple switch from plastic straws to bamboo, metal or glass straws is a great place to start! Some estimates say that hundreds of millions of straws are thrown out every day 2. Swap your go-to coffee cups to reusable ones. Reusable K Cups. Keurig machines are awesome for on the go and you do waste less coffee if you are only brewing what you will consume (this equals a win). Switching to a ...reusable K-Cup is perfect because you’re not throwing away a non-recyclable item and you’re saving money by using your favorite bulk coffee. Use Cloth coffee filters for regular drip style coffee makers. They’re super cool. 3. Start Composting. This one is a no brainer, especially if you have the backyard space and a garden! 4. Beeswax Wrap. Want to save on all that single-use plastic wrap? Beeswax wraps can be purchased anywhere these days! 5. Ditch paper towels + napkins. It would shock you to know how much paper waste comes from each household. It’s figured that 4.51lbs is generated each day, per person. 6. Reef-safe sunscreen. Recent reports are saying that two common ingredients in sunscreens, oxybenzone and octinoxate, can be harmful to aquatic life. 9. Reusable jars. Our team loves to save our pasta sauce, pickle, & jam jars! Soak them to remove the label and viola! You’ll be amazed at the stash you could build shocked at how much waste you didn't create! What are you swapping for Earth Day? Tag us and we'll feature you in our stories! Can’t wait to hear the many great ideas to share #earthday #earthdayeveryday * #vancouverkids #yvrmoms #vancouverdad #yvrdad #vancouverblogger #veryvancouver #vancitybuzz #604now #eastvancouver #canadianmom #happymomsnaps #momlifeisthebestlife #kidscomefirst #ConnectTheDotsKids #ConnectTheDotsYVR #DotsVancouver See more

Thankful we have made the one year mark, it was a wild one! Photo credit: Purple Lenses Studio for taking photos at one of our many celebrations we had so many birthday parties at Connect the Dots - Activity Centre. Never imagined one year we would be here. Pretty much everyone somehow and someway have been affected by the outbreak of Covid-19 virus outbreak, we wish we could be celebrating this anniversary mark with our community. We were planing a party for months, however it was with heavy hearts those plans it had be cancelled. We are grateful to have guests and valued families support us during our first year. We are hopeful that we will re-open after this pandemic to be reconnecting with all of you, hope you will be able to join us and come support our small business. Stay well and stay safe.

Dear Visitors, Effective Monday, March 16, we are reducing the operating hours to: Monday to Friday: 9:00am - 1:00pm ... Follow us for updates any changes in hours and closures as we are monitoring the on-going situation in our area. We ask everyone to wash their hands 20-seconds (sing happy birthday 2X) with soap and water. The safety and health of our visitors, customers and staff are the utmost importance for Connect the Dots Activity Centre. Over the last few weeks we have had fewer visitors (as a small business, the most guests on our busiest day has been less than 40 people), since then we included additional measures, particularly regular filling of soap dispensers and antiseptic hand-gel dispensers, and sanitizing our toys multiple times per day. We have increased the frequency of our cleaning practices in our buildings’ common areas and our cleaning products comply with recommendations for COVID-19 sanitization in the workplace. Thank you for your understanding. #ConnectTheDotsKids #ConnectTheDotsYVR #DotsVancouver

Connect the Dots Activity Centre is committed in ensuring the safety of our guests and staff. We are taking extra precautionary steps to ensure our space is throughly sanitized. As the situation evolves, we want to take a moment to connect with you directly as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to impact our communities and it is our top priority to make sure well-being of our customers and staff members are being supported. Here are some precautionary steps we have... taken: - We are closely following guidelines from National Health Organizations. - Increased the frequency of cleaning in the Activity Centre including door handles, counters, high-touch areas, ball-pit, and clean any small toys that children may be in contact with. Our restroom facilities, toy area, and eating area are being sanitized multiple times daily. - We are encouraging all of our guests to wash their hands for 20 seconds, as CDC recommends. Guests have access to hand sanitizers at our front check-in. - All business travel have been suspended. As mothers and business owners, we have cancelled our flights and hotels this month for the best interest of our community. Additionally, all staff who have completed personal travel to countries abroad are being asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days before returning to work. - Anyone who are displaying symptoms or feeling sick are asked to refrain from coming to our Activity Centre until they are fully recovered. We believe at this time when our values brings us together and we thank you for considering supporting us, visiting a local small business, helping wash hands right when entering, and reminding that we do not have food in the play area. As we continue to navigate this new territory, our commitment is providing a safe, comfortable, and fun experience remains unchanged. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to welcoming you. Please take care of yourselves and each other.
