Doug Morey for Municipal Council 06.02.2021

Spent the day at the Verona Lions Garlic fest. A great event, time well spent. I also met Kayley Kennedy, the Liberal candidate for the area. She is an impressive young woman with some great ideas, I suggest checking out her platform if you get a moment. I was happy to see that she took the time to attend a local event and meet people.

South Frontenac is going through a strategic planning session. Please take some time to fill out the survey to give feedback as to where you see the future of the township heading. http://www.southfrontenac.net/en/News/index.aspx Thanks!

So the reality is this, South Frontenac has, on average, roughly 18 years of landfill usage left. Now, we currently don't do anything with organics and that makes up roughly 50% of what is taken to the landfill. I'm trying to think of a way to reward those that take the initiative to start composting and removing organics from the waste stream. Thoughts?

Tomorrow night is a big one. Sitting down with a lot of community volunteers and some of our amazing staff to talk about how we want to revitalize the recreation committee. This is a big one for me as I'm very committed to bringing some more focus to recreation across South Frontenac inside of my term. I'm hoping to participate in a very good discussion about how we want to move forward with recreation across our amazing Township.

A busy weekend of events in this snowy weather. Yesterday was a huge congratulations to the Royal Canadian Legion in Sydenham on 70 years! Today was a wonderful lunch with a few brave souls at the Verona Lions club in advance of Robbie Burns day hosted by MP Scott Reid and MPP Randy Hillier. Unfortunately I didn't get much opportunity to talk to MP Reid but I did get to try haggis for the first time. It was quite good and all in all a pleasant time.
