19. NINETEEN. Gosh, the phrase The days are long but the years are so short resonates deeply with me with every birthday we celebrate. ... My first and only boy is 19 years old today. He made me a mom 19 years ago and he was the absolute best introduction to parenthood we could have asked for. He was born on his dad’s birthday too, so it was extra special! He arrived fairly quickly; after only 5 hours of active labour. Pushing however took 4.5 hours. He was grunting and not breathing perfectly so he was taken to the nursery for his first 8 hours. I was woken up at midnight by a nurse saying ‘Miss Stanley, your son is here and he’s ready to feed.’ I was scared and overwhelmed and insanely happy. Kier is simply the best son I could ask for. He’s insanely smart, quick witted, funny, caring and driven. Happy 19th Birthday Kier. I’m so excited to support you as you continue to work for your dreams and have fun while doing it. @kieranwstanley See more

Today is World Prematurity Day. 30,000 babies are born prematurely in Canada every year, and 1 in 10 babies worldwide are born too soon. ... World Prematurity Day is observed every year to raise awareness of the challenges and long-term impact of preterm birth globally. Today we are thinking of all of the sweet little fighters and their amazing families. Some little fighters are no longer with us and for those, we grieve and remember. You will not be forgotten. #worldprematurityday2020 See more

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.... We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. -Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae We remember.
