Free small business webinar series launches for the fall!! This is a great initiative put forward by the city. If you don't think you need help yourself, you pr...obably know someone who does. The City of Edmonton is continuing their support of the growth of small business by offering a new series of free online webinars designed to help navigate the City’s regulatory processes and enable a smoother, more streamlined experience. The webinar series is part of a larger Small Business Support Program, a one-on-one program that helps small businesses understand the regulatory processes involved with opening a small business and works to reduce barriers to startup and expansion. Each webinar is based on a topic or theme that is relevant to the season and needs of small business owners. The first one will take place on Thursday, September 24, and will focus on starting a home business. Online webinar listings, dates and registration information can be found on the City of Edmonton Small Business Series webpage as information becomes available. The following dates are confirmed: Thursday, September 24 - Starting a Home Business Tuesday, September 29 - Opening Business in a Commercial Location Tuesday, October 20 - Starting a Home Business Wednesday, October 21 - Starting a Home Business and Becoming an Entrepreneur Thursday, October 22 - Starting your Dream Food Business Monday, November 9 - Starting a Home Business Friday, November 20 - Opening a Business in a Commercial Location

This is a short survey for Dovercourt residents. The community league is regrouping, and will be making decisions around next steps. Our first meeting since the winter will be on Tuesday, October 6. We will be making some key decisions that will impact league operations for the 2020/21 season. Due to capacity (volunteers, funding) limits, we may need to set some priorities. We need to get our roof fixed, so we are considering a temporary closure of the hall. Before we make a...ny decisions, however, we would like your feedback. Please fill out this survey by October 5, 2020 if possible, before our next meeting. We will calculate results until October 31. It can be online, or hard copy dropped off at the community league mailbox. If you have questions or additional comments, please contact [email protected]. Everyone deserves to get to their destination safely. Right now, some people feel less safe than others moving around our city. Watch to learn why equity is im...portant as we work to eliminate fatal and serious crashes on our streets. Visit engaged.edmonton.ca/safestreets to provide your feedback on draft actions and themes before September 23.

With the warmer fall temperatures and school back in, lots of people are walking in our neighbourhood! This is a perfect time to bring more awareness to Walk y...our Block- a program started by the Edmonton Neighbourhood Watch Society. Research has shown that crime is significantly reduced where community residents are visibly present and are actively involved on their streets and in their neighborhoods. When community members are aware of their neighbourhood they are better equipped to recognize and respond when something is not right. Who? You How? Take a walk Where? In your neighborhood When? Whenever you like Why? To prevent crime before it happens REGISTER & LOG your walks! www.enwatch.ca/walk-your-block More information to come on Walk your Block!
