Just a friendly reminder to everyone that Dovercourt Crypt will be CLOSED this evening in order to make final preparations for our big event of the season - Halloween night! Oh my goblins, what a frightfully fun opening weekend we had! We hope everyone that made it out to visit the Crypt enjoyed themselves, because we sure did enjoy scaring all of you. Tonight, Hauntling Night returns from the dead for the first of two evenings with new, earlier hours! The Crypt will be open from 4:00 - 8:30 pm this evening for "scare-free" walk-throughs of our haunt perfect for families with younger children, or anyone else who may want to experience all the... 'ooh' of the haunt without any of the 'AHH!'. "Scare-free" means there will be no actors and no jump scares - anything that may startle you during our regular haunt has taken the night off! The house lights will be turned up, and the dreaded claustrophobia tunnel will be deflated. Fresh popcorn will be available for all our haunt-goers (while supplies last), as well as Junior Fire Fighter stickers. Oh my good goblins, was Hauntling Night ever a huge hit! The "scare-free" evening was busy with brave little haunt-goers touring the Crypt while all of the creepy creatures took the night off. Well, almost all of them - our handsome rabbit Harvey was around to pose for photos. We even had some of the DNV Fire Fighters stop by for a visit (much to Harvey's delight)! Thank you to everyone for coming out last night, the overwhelmingly positive responses we received to the scare-...free night means we will absolutely make Hauntling Night a permanent feature of Dovercourt Crypt in the future. GHASTLY GREETINGS TO YOU ALL, AND WELCOME TO HAUNT SEASON 2019! I apologize, my spookies, for the delay in news of this year’s haunt. When we arose from the depths of the crypt to start preparations this month, we realized to our horror that, while we slumbered all year, something truly terrible crept in, made itself at home and.. well, it was the worst infestation of CLOWNS we had ever seen! We finally got them under control enough to make it to the Crypt’s computer, but I a...m starting to think the remaining clowns might be here to stay.. hopefully none of our brave crypt visitors are afraid of clowns, or they may be in trouble.. There is lots of frightful fun planned for our haunt this year, including not one but TWO Hauntling Nights! Greetings, my spookies! I know you all have been eagerly awaiting our announcement of dates for this year's haunt, so without further ado, I am happy to present to you our poster for 2018 - re-vamped and shiny just in time for our beloved Crypt's fifth birthday! We will be opening our doors Saturday October 27 and Sunday October 28 from 6:30-9:30 pm for those of you brave enough to venture in. On Monday October 29, we will be hosting our first Hauntlings Night for visitors wi...th younger children who may want to experience all the ‘ooh’ of the haunt without any of the ‘AHH!!’. Finally, we will of course be open on Halloween Night for an all-out fright fest, trick-or-treating and a fireworks show at 9:15 pm. While the Crypt is free to attend, donations are encouraged and accepted and this year we are incredibly excited to announce that all donations we receive will benefit the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund! The day is finally here, and we are NEARLY ready for visitors! A note to our visitors with younger children - our Haunt does have a bit of mature content (and a lot of fake gore), and we recommend that kids under 10 that want to... go through the Haunt are accompanied by an adult. Now, Gerard used to be your regular run-of-the-mill skeleton, but thanks to a fabulous makeover (courtesy of the Crypt’s most talented poltergeist with a paintbrush, Mindy Marghoul) he’s the happiest and most handsome skeleton in the Crypt - cant you tell? It's time for another FRIDAY FRIGHT FACT! Did you know our beloved Crypt is open *THREE WHOLE DAYS* this year? It has been mentioned before, sure, but we really want to get it in everyone's lovely skulls that they can visit us not only on Halloween itself, but also October 29 and 30 - that is only two days from now, my spookies! The Haunt will be fully staffed all three terrorific evenings, so no need to worry about missing out if you cannot visit us on Halloween night. Good evening, my spookies! If , you just adore all things Halloween and want to take in as much haunted house action as you possibly can! Our humble haunt will be open for THREE frightful nights this year, but if you are anything like the Crypt Master and your Web Mistress (aka yours truly), you probably are just dying to have the figurative pants scared off you as soon as possible. Well, WE HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU - there are two other haunts on the North Shore that are alre...ady open to those brave enough to venture through their doors! Edgemont Haunt has been open since October 13th (on until Halloween), and we took an evening off of preparing our haunt last weekend to pay theirs a visit - and OH MY GOBLINS, what an absolutely spooktacular display!! If you haven't been already, you really should. It is just to die for! Another FRIDAY FRIGHT FACT for all you ghosties! Candy makers supposedly lobbied to extend daylight savings time into the beginning of November to get an extra hour of daylight so children could collect even more candy (thus forcing people to purchase more candy to meet the demand). They wanted it so badly that during the 1985 hearings on Daylight Savings they put candy pumpkins on the seat of every senator. Sounds like a win-win situation to me! We have so many members of our frightful family to introduce to you! Let's start with Doug, the Selfie Queen of Dovercourt Crypt. He hangs out in our graveyard, snapping pics and waving to visitors. FRIGHT FACT FRIDAY! The world record holder for the longest walk-through horror house (indoors), measures 2,189.59 m and was achieved by Dragon's House of Horror located in Albuquerque, New Mexico last year. That’s over TWO KILOMETRES of haunted house! Fret not, my ghoulies, our humble haunt is a little smaller than that (although I promise it will be just as frightening). Stay spooky!... The air is getting chilly, the leaves are changing colour and you better believe our team of crafty crypt keepers are already hard at work on this year’s hair-raising haunt. In order to allow our Crypt Master to spend even more time creating horrifying props and monsters for your enjoyment, the Facebook page is now under the control of the crypt's sorceress of social media, Miss Lilith La Lune (aka yours truly)! We have tons of new and frightfully ...exciting plans this year, so be sure to like our page (and spread the word) to stay in the loop.
