There are basically two types of people in this world: those who ask and those who take. And the ones who take WITHOUT asking cause 99.99% of all the trouble in the world. Take these folks. Baby Bear has car trouble, so Mama and Papa Bear drive up from London, ON to fix the car. (There are no mechanics in Toronto these days? Plus, it is 2.5 hours each way...) Papa Bear plonks his truck down outside a garage. Never asks if it is OK. That was 10:30 a.m. or so. Shortly after, th...e property owner suggests this is not the place to park. Oh, they would never dream of blocking the garage. (Huh?) One hour later, they are still there, so the owner goes and asks them to move. Lots of nastiness ensues. Papa claims the truck is not parked (Huh? Engine off, no-one in the driver's seat? Truck is parked.) Mama Bear resorts to name calling. Owner says she will call for police and... Well, watch the video to the end, to see what the brave Bears do then! See more

Up on the roof... Although we are truly urbanites in an urban setting, we try to do our bit for pollinators. We have Butterfly Weed (asclepia) and Butterfly Plant (Yarrow) along with others. What is driving these butterflies wild are the Bee Balm (Monarda) with the purple flowers and the Verbena with the pink flowers. That nectar must be pretty exciting!

Just another Torontonian, out helping herself to her neighbour's plants, early in the morning in late May. Sure beats lining up at the garden centre. Pinching other people's purchases saves time, saves money, and you don't have to worry about all those annoying physical distancing rules.... P.S. If you bring 'em back and replant them, sister, no questions asked!

Looking for a drycleaner? Ours is open!! Down on Bloor Street today, we noticed some drycleaners are staying closed (although they have been deemed an essential service.) But Galleria Dry Cleaners at Dovercourt Village Mews is open! Six days a week, 10:30-2:30. So, if you need to get ready for the better weather, when you'll see and be seen a lot more, swing by Galleria with your glad rags and they can spiff them up for you! (Google their name or use the postal code, M6H2T9 to pin down their location.)

We're getting ready for the time when we can start taking bookings from travellers. We've always been a popular spot for visitors with family in the neighbourhood, plus those taking English-language courses in Toronto. And, with a full kitchen, we offer extended-stay guests a place where they can self-cater. Less expensive than buying all your meals out. In the post-COVID-19 era, we will also be able to offer an elevator- and lobby-free environment with your own front door, which is less risky than other types of accommodation. https://www.booking.com//dovercourt-village-mews.en-gb.html
