Night guards can protect your teeth while you're sleeping. Jaw pain, clicking noises or headaches in the morning might mean that you are grinding your teeth during the night. This can cause excessive wear and tear, including chipping or cracking. Ask us about a custom night guard to protect your teeth. (250) 390-9227

Whether you’re preparing for a special event or just don’t want to wait for whiter teeth, you can see same-day results with our in-office teeth whitening. Patients teeth usually whiten 5-10 shades in a single visit, thanks to our highly-concentrated bleaching agents and UV lighting that speeds up the process.
Some people are surprised to learn that adults can get braces too. Watch this video to find out more or give us a call at (250) 390-9227!
At Dover View Dental, we thoroughly disinfect the exam room between visits. Here’s a video of our disinfection practices to keep patients and staff safe and healthy every day.
Braces can be cleaned with a regular toothbrush and floss, but there are some special products that make it even easier.
Happy Holidays from our dental family to yours! We hope you enjoy indulging your sweet tooth this holiday season. Just be sure to brush and floss afterwards. :)
If you are drinking bottled water exclusively, you could be missing out on a key mineral that helps fight dental decay fluoride! It’s added to most tap water to make teeth more resistant to decay and promote remineralization. If you don’t like the taste of tap water, you can always use a filtration system (which won’t affect the level of fluoride). Drink up!
Many people rely on denture adhesives for a snug, comfortable fit. Here are a few different products to consider - Denture pads (sometimes called cushions) use a natural vacuum effect to keep your dentures in place. They can be trimmed for a custom fit. - Adhesive strips are pre-cut with a sticky backing, so no creams or powders are required. - Adhesives creams are the most popular and can be applied to wet or dry dentures.... If dentures don’t fit properly, even with adhesives, they may need to be relined. Ask how we can help.
You should clean your tongue every time you brush your teeth, either using your toothbrush or a tongue cleaner. A thin layer of mucus can trap bacteria and food particles on your tongue, causing a foul taste and bad breath. Tongue cleaners have a built-in scraper and soft bristles that can reach deep into the uneven areas of your tongue removing odour-causing bacteria for a fresher, cleaner mouth.
Flossing can be tricky with orthodontics. It can rip or stretch on metal brackets and bands, and it can be difficult to thread under the wires and appliances. Luckily, there is specialty floss designed for people with orthodontics. There is extra-strong floss that won’t break going around a bracket, floss threaders that have a stiff end for slipping through narrow areas, and even spongy expanding floss for cleaning around appliances.
We are closed today to remember all those who made sacrifices for Canada lest we forget.
Dental bonding can fix chipped or cracked teeth. This is when we create a custom-coloured composite resin to match your teeth and apply it in thin layers, hardening it with a special light. The resin can fill minor chips and cracks, often restoring your teeth in a single appointment.
The Oral Cancer Foundation says 30% of all tooth decay in adults is caused by dry mouth. Here are some products that can help with dry mouth MOUTHWASH: Rinsing for 30 seconds with a mouthwash formulated for dry mouth can provide soothing moisture for up to four hours. You can use these alcohol-free mouthwashes up to five times daily to ease dryness. LOZENGES: Dry mouth lozenges are easily popped anytime your mouth feels dry. Many contain a natural sweetener called xylitol, ...which helps stimulate salvia. Look for these in the diabetic section of the drugstore. SPRAY: Dry mouth sprays are spritzed directly into your mouth for immediate hydration. GEL: Dry mouth gels are applied directly to your tongue so you can spread the gel throughout your mouth to lubricate it. DISCS: Dry mouth discs stick to your teeth or gums to keep your mouth hydrated. They slowly release xylitol, to increase saliva flow, and can even be worn overnight.
Children often have spaces between their baby teeth to allow for larger permanent teeth to grow in and fill in the spaces. Not only are these gaps normal, but they can also make it easier to clean between teeth and allow permanent teeth to grow in straight.
For big kids, teens, and adults, avoid using as much toothpaste as you see in an ad! Too much foam can trigger you to stop brushing before the two minutes are up since you’ll need to spit sooner. Toothpaste the size of a pea should be sufficient to get enough foam to thoroughly clean your mouth.
Baby teeth don’t last forever, but you still don’t want them plagued by cavities. Here’s a common dental problem that babies and toddlers experience
Chewing sugar-free gum can help care for your teeth. It helps remove food particles from between your teeth, promotes saliva production, and reduces the acid your mouth. So chew away just don’t let chewing gum replace brushing and flossing!
