October is unofficially Fog Machine Death Month. I was made aware of this when 4 fog machines in various states of distress arrived at the shop this week. When your fogger dies (and it will, given which month it is) before the Hallowe'en party, you know where to bring it!

More metal? More metal.

OoooohWEE! That sweet, sweet sound of a badass new set of high output pickups, sure to ingratiate the neighbours to my wee little enterprise. METAAAAAALL! I spent the day hooking up my pal Casey with a sexy pair of Seymour Duncan Blackouts for his heavy metal-making machine. Guitar re-wiring is one of my favourite activities. Maybe your axe could use a tune up? Bring it by the shop and let me work some black magic on it!

Nothing like a little board-level surgery to cap off a productive week at the shop! This here's the innards of an 88 key digital piano that was tragically dropped on its head. A piece of the power supply circuit board broke off and became lodged between the hammer weights on the keys, and the power plug itself was dislodged from the rest of the circuit - notice the missing chunk and the empty socket on the left-hand side of the photo. Fortunately, the pieces were sufficiently intact that I was able to glue them back together, then run some wires under the board to replace the broken traces that carry power to the rest of the keyboard. One part electronics science, one part Red Green, and it's up and running, good as new!
