Winter Windshield Care #1: Never Pour Hot Water On Your Windshield! This will make your glass expand in cold temperatures, forcing chips you might not even know exist to expand into a crack, causing a windshield replacement.

How soon should you get a chip in your window repaired? Right away! If it's smaller than a quarter, it's repairable and completely covered by your insurance company. Chips or cracks bigger than a quarter may need a full windshield replacement = $$$.
