UPDATE for EMERGENCY CALLS Due to high call volume over the last few weeks, the system that handles emergency calls for Chatham Kent is no longer able to keep up. All emergency messages will now need to be left on our voicemail and we will increase the number of times per day that we check it, and will also be checking the voicemail 7 days/week. If possible, please try to include the name of the dentist that you see and your symptoms.

Dear Downtown Dental patients. As most of you are already aware, the office is closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are not as of yet aware of when we will be allowed to open and operate as business as usual. But we want you to know that we are still here for you. If you have a dental emergency please call the office, 519-352-1616. You will be able to leave a message and a staff member will get back to you to evaluate your situation over the phone. If it is necess...ary that you come to the office, a COVID-19 screening will be done and a specific time will be booked for you. In our efforts to practise social distancing, we are limiting the number of patients in the office at one time. Your safety and that of the Downtown Dental team are top priority. The office has the appropriate COVID 19 personal protection equipment in place and the staff is fully trained. We wish all of you the very safest of time at home while you practice social distancing. WHAT COUNTS AS A TRUE DENTAL EMERGENCY? This is a question that we heard several times today over the course of rescheduling appointments. A true dental emergency includes oral-facial trauma, significant infection, prolonged bleeding or pain that cannot be managed through over-the-counter medications. ... If you have a dental emergency please call the office to schedule an appointment, please do not just come to the office without having a scheduled and confirmed appointment and completing a pre-screening with a member of our staff. The heath and safety of our patients and staff are always top priority.

IMPORTANT NOTICE. The RCDSO has issued a message to all dentists in Ontario on the COVID-19 Pandemic, strongly recommending that all non-essential and elective dental services be suspended immediately. Emergency treatment should continue. Based on these recommendations THE OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED to everyone EXCEPT SCHEDULED EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS. We will be in contact with patients that have upcoming appointments in the morning to reschedule. If you have a dental emergency and need to schedule an appointment please call the office before coming in as we will need to complete a screening process. There is not a definite timeline for this closure, we will provide updates as we have them. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this causes and will do our best to accommodate your preferred appointment time upon our re-opening.

A big congratulations goes out to our very own Jeanne Houston on her retirement. Jeanne was going into her 43rd year of dental. She would like everyone to know she loved being a dental assistant and she will miss her patients and friends that she made along the way. A big thank you to all the dentists and coworkers she worked with throughout the years. We will miss Jeanne’s smile, her little pep talks, and her endless stories with the patients that made them feel comfortable at the dental office. As one chapter ends, another will being.
