Globally conscious, locally active young people This is our mission and vision with Doxa Journeys. We love the partnerships that we have with our friends in the Dominican Republic and the opportunities that our students have to engage around issues of poverty, injustice, cultural awareness and team work, and how they are able to effect change in their own lives and the world around them. This picture was taken of some of our students working with the loc...al community to help build cement floors for families in need. Cement floors are built to replace the pounded dirt floors that many homes have, and provide safety and sanitation for the families living there, which according to the WHO is a factor in helping to prevent the spread of disease. Floors can be washed more easily, are stronger to withstand rainfall and flooding, and are safer and cleaner for babies and children to crawl around. We are thankful that our DJ students have fundraised for and helped work on 200+ floors over the years! Did you know the town of Barahona has a whole store dedicated to birthday party supplies? We do! And we love visiting our friends there and supporting their local business!
