In my dental office, in addition to wearing N95s, gowns, caps, allowing treatment rooms to settle for the recommended time, I also have fresh air all day long.
On Friday, October 9, the Government of NB declared that Zones 1 & 5 should revert back to the Orange phase under their Covid-19 plan: https://www2.gnb.ca//en/...news/news_release.2020.10.0519.html It is important to note that dental staff in Zones 1 and 5 are still practicing and providing services to patients in their respective regions. The government is asking people to ‘stay in place’ and wear a mask at all times when in public. If you live outside zones 1 or 5, but have travelled to either Zone 1 or 5 in the past two weeks, treatment may be deferred for at least 14 days unless identified as an emergency. Patients who live in zones 1 and 5 can continue to receive dental treatment within those zones.
New Brunswickers can now complete an online self-referral to be tested for COVID-19. If you’re experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19 and do not nee...d to talk to a nurse, complete the self assessment found at www.gnb.ca/coronavirus for next steps. Once you have submitted your request to be tested online, it can take up to 24-48 hours for our test assessment centres to contact you and schedule your appointment. https://bit.ly/3dlZ3wp

We are now in our fourth week "back to work". Yes, lots of changes and strict safety protocols as well as new equipment to treat of our air (remove aerosols as we create them), with fresh air exchanges from outside through HEPA filters. I would like to thank our patients for respecting our protocols, which has made it so much easier to serve our patients. Yesterday I received this nice message from one of my patients, and wanted to share this: "I had a dentist appt yesterday,... regular cleaning, xrays, exam. I was unsure how this would go but I felt very safe, I saw how much time and money was being spent on staff and patient safety. An incredible situation, still kinda surreal to me. If your dental charges increase there's good reason for it. Thank you Caroline Lubbedarcy " See more
Dear patients, I am having some extra work done at my clinic above and beyond our guidelines, in order to deal more effectively with aerosol production, which we do in dentistry with most of our procedures. Thank you for your patience. I hope to re-open my practice in a few weeks. Urgent situations will be addressed first when we open. I will share photos of the changes made to my practice when the work has been completed. All dentists have faced immense challenges finding a...nd purchasing the appropriate PPE that we need. This article explains some of our challenges. https://www.cbc.ca//slow-return-for-canada-s-dental-office
