FMPSD will be celebrating and honouring Indigenous culture, traditions and history by wearing their moccasins on November 16th! Established in 2011, Rock Your Mocs began as a worldwide Native American & Indigenous Peoples movement. It’s easy to participate by wearing moccasins to school, to work, or wherever your day takes you. Rock Your Mocs is a fun way to unify Indigenous Peoples globally, through internet social media. Here, participants post their photos for everyon...e to enjoy by sharing their stories and creating an online photo album by using any one or all of the following hashtags: #RockYourMocs #FMPSDRockYourMocs and by tagging @FMPSD and @indigenousFMPSD It’s a great big fun moccasin party that everyone gets to see pictures of! We look forward to seeing you ALL join in...parents, guardians, grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends!

We had a day filled of orange shirts, honouring residential school survivors and their families, the Indigenous Giant Map and learning about Indigenous culture. Thanks to everyone who participated!! We are doing our part as a school and a division in Truth and Reconciliation.

"On this day of September 30th, we call upon humanity to listen with open ears to the stories of survivors and their families, and to remember those that didn’t make it." "September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children's sense of self-esteem and well being, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters." Read more at: https://www.orangeshirtday.org/ ... Looking forward to seeing our Orange Dinos tomorrow!

We did it, Dinos! Superhero Day reminds us the importance of staying diligent with our multi-layered approach to keeping the students stay safe and stay healthy as students have now been #back2clark for one month! Our goal with superhero day was simple - bring back the feeling of what it means to be a school community while remaining committed to the importance of cohorting, limiting mass gatherings, staying socially connected while remaining physically apart.... We can’t say thank you enough from the entire staff for your support and commitment to our collective school community. Students, parents, staff, and friends of Dr. K. A. Clark, you are all our hygiene superheroes. Tag someone in this post, and you’ll be entered in our S.U.P.E.R.DINOS contest! Winners will choose one class to receive a bonus physical education class next week!! Special thank you to the teachers and educational assistants who made Superhero Day a success! We hope you had as much fun as we did!!!!

Every year Fort McMurray Public School Division honours the survivors and their families of Residential Schools. We will celebrate Orange Shirt Day as a division on September 30th. By doing this, we open global conversations about the impacts and the legacy of Residential Schools. At Dr. Clark we will honour this day by participating in a variety of Indigenous activities that will focus on Orange Shirt Day. We encourage all staff and students to wear an orange shirt on that day.
