If your New Years Resolution was to return to the Gym you might find these 5 tips helpful to keep your feet healthy: 1) When starting a new fitness regime begin slowly and build up over a few weeks. 2) Consider consulting a personal trainer for the first few weeks to ensure your technique is correct. 3) Wear the correct footwear for your activity- for cardio look for a running shoe with lots of shock absorbance, if you are doing strength look for a shoe design for weight t...raining that has a lot of support. 4) Get a foot and ankle assessment- ensure that before you start your new fitness regime you are in good foot health. Address any reoccurring foot injuries or treat existing problems. 5) Protect your feet against fungus and bacteria. Clean your feet post gym, dont walk around barefoot and clean your shoes after the gym (use shoe sprays and alternate your shoes so your not wearing your shoes consecutively). Good luck with your fitness goals! We are more than happy to help your feet stay healthy so you stay on track! Dont hesitate to contact us (506)8473668

Common foot problems in infants/ Children ... 1) Toe walking: Babies naturally put more pressure on the ball of their foot when learning to walk. This usually goes away by age 3. 2)In- toeing and out- toeing: These are natural when infants start to walk. However, if these continue or get worse its important for your child to get their feet assessed. ... 3)Club foot or talipes: this is a congenital foot disorder, the cause is unclear. This condition is treated by your podiatrist and paediatrician. 4) Ingrown toenails: make sure you take care of your little ones nails. If you think they are ingrowing or growing the wrong way get your podiatrist to check their nails. 5)Flat feet: infants/children generally have flat feet. Usually they have no pain or trouble walking. However, if you notice your child tripping frequently or complaining of pain- an assessment should be carried out. 6)Severs disease: This is a condition which affects children between age 8-14 years old and is when inflammation occurs at the heels growth plate. Podiatrists see infants as young as 1 year old! Do not hesitate to contact Dr Rees if you have any questions with regards to your little ones feet.
