Short update to our valued patients: On behalf of my son Dr. Daniel Bottner and myself, I am pleased to say that we are running quite smoothly at White Oaks Mall Dental Clinic since returning in early June from the COVID lockdown. Most regular dental services are being provided, all with the needed infection controls in place, and then some. Our patients seem to be very comfortable with the new set up in our waiting room and operatories. COVID screening and temperature che...cks on everyone (including us), 17 air purifiers, an ultraviolet light for mall air entering the office, plexiglass at the front desk, gowns or long sleeves on personnel, high quality surgical masks, patient hydrogen peroxide rinses before treatment, wall art removed, enclosed operatories, socially distanced waiting room chairs, and so on, are what you will see. Safety is the issue and we have had many of you compliment us for making infection control a very high priority. Thank you very much for your support and for continuing to put your trust in our care. Sincerely Dr. Jack Bottner

Clinical studies have shown that chewing sugarless gum for 20 minutes following meals can help prevent tooth decay. The chewing of sugarless gum increases the flow of saliva, which washes away food and other debris, neutralizes acids produced by bacteria in the mouth and provides disease-fighting substances throughout the mouth. Increased saliva flow also carries with it more calcium and phosphate to help strengthen tooth enamel. Read more: http://www.doctorjackbottner.com/dental-information

It’s important to realize that your dentist sees much more than just your teeth! Some health-related conditions that show up in the mouth include: Diabetes, oral cancer, temporomandibular disorder (TMD) HIV/AIDS, thyroid problems, iron deficiency/anemia, leukemia, eating disorders (bulimia and anorexia)..... Your dentist may adjust your treatment if you have certain medical conditions, use certain prescription drugs or are currently undergoing medical treatment, such as radiation or chemotherapy. The COVID-19 pandemic is having wide-ranging impacts on our everyday lives, including scheduled dental and other appointments. We all need to work together to prevent the spread of the virus. In a statement issued April 1, the American Dental Association (ADA) called on dentists nationwide to postpone non-urgent dental procedures through April 30 in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Concentrating on emergency and urgent dental care only during this period will allow ...dentists and their teams to care for emergency patients and reduce the burden that dental emergencies would place on hospital emergency departments. Dear Patients, I am sure many of you have been at home for the last 2 months, as have I, my son Daniel, and our wonderful staff members. My thoughts are with you that you are safe, practicing social distancing, and staying positive. It seems we are getting closer to the start of our dental office, hopefully in June or sooner, but this is up to the Ontario Government and then our dental licensing body. These two bodies will also dictate how we must practice for everyone's s...afety, which PPE's (personal protective equipment) must we have and wear, how will the flow of people occur for social distancing, waiting room and reception area use, air purification, etc. Please be assured that we will go above and beyond the guidelines that we are given for infection control. This has always been important but now even more. I receive information from many sources including the university where I teach, many webinars, dental suppliers, and so on. Most of my staff and I have been at this office for many years. Many of our patients have too. It is a great relationship which we hope to have for many years to come. Miss you and hope to see you soon, Dr. Jack Bottner
