A little PSA from the office of Dr. Joan Ross to announce that my clinic has been set up for video teleconferencing. This way I will perhaps be able to offload some of the burden of the emergency department at Bluewater health if people are concerned and rightly so, about going to the hospital. This will hopefully allow people to have their concerns assessed and reduce the amount of collateral damage from people avoiding the hospital for valid concerns other than COVID-19 At ...this point I still require a referral from a physician, nurse practitioner, or walk-in clinic but you can let your medical professional know that I am seeing consultations this way, and will be selecting out things that appear to be urgently in need of surgery in Covid-19 asymptomatic people wearing masks and sanitizing hands. I’m feeling very hopeful we are nearing the end of this plague #despitecovid19 I want to thank my Admin. person, Kylie for being the organizer behind all this process. She is the most organized person I’ve ever met and has been able to prioritize what’s most important for all our patients during this stressful time. Her focus has completely been fearlessly on what can we do to help right now? Thank you Kylie.

The office of Dr Joan Ross will be closed at least until April 30th and possibly longer due to Covid19 social distancing requirements. Appointments will be rebooked but decisions are being made in keeping with Public Health Advisories which are changing almost daily. We hope to be able to see people who have more urgent problems in a timely fashion once we are assured that the supply of masks, personal protective equipment and hand sanitizer is not in critical demand where it...’s needed most - at the hospitals. Please be reminded that those who have travelled out of the country, even the USA, are mandated to self-quarantine for 14 full days - that is, stay home. Further you should Isolate yourself in a separate room with your own washroom if you have any respiratory symptoms, and seek to get tested if you develop a fever and cough or shortness of breath. There is some recent information that a loss of sense of smell and taste is possibly an early sign of infection (~30% of cases) If you are someone who sews and want to help the community with your skills, masks can be made and delivered to my office or message me and I will do a drive by to pick them up.
