A HUGE VICTORY! :trans:

Our wonderful physician in Comox has done an excellent job of sorting out some uninformed times regarding Bill C6, the anti conversion therapy bill. https://www.comoxvalleyrecord.com//letter-courtenay-docto/
Very tragic to hear this still goes on. Paris a Hilton described being sent to a school in Utah as a teen where she was emotionally and physically abused. It seems Utah has quite a number of these types of places for teens. Awful. https://www.pinknews.co.uk//conversion-therapy-trans-wild/
Interesting podcast!
Transgender history is little known, says Aaron Devor, chair in transgender studies at the University of Victoria. Here are four trailblazers who paved the way ...for trans rights in Canada. The good news is that GRS Montreal is open and performing some surgeries and MSP will now cover the surgeries and aftercare in Montreal. However, there is still transmission of COVID-19 in Quebec, and should you be infected with the virus, MSP will not cover any additional costs you may incur as a result. GRS is requiring a 14 day quarantine at home in BC prior to travel. When you return to BC you will need to quarantine at home for an additional 14 days, so it will be particularly important to have all supplies and sustenance necessary for that period of time stockpiled prior to leaving BC. There will be fewer surgeries being performed overall, particularly surgeries that require general anesthesia. If you have other questions regarding your specific case, contact Transcarebc.
Don’t despair, progress continues.
I am committed to speaking out wherever and whenever I see systemic racism in action. I acknowledge my white privilege and I want to be part of the solution. I am happy to see the Black Lives Matter movement getting the attention it deserves and I am open to learning more about how I can help.
Although GRS Montreal has resumed offering some gender-confirming surgeries as of June 1, due to the high level of COVD-19 cases in Quebec, public health officials in BC have determined that it would not be in the best interests of patient safety to travel to Montreal for surgery right now. Therefore, MSP will not fund surgeries at GRS Montreal at this time. They will continue to re-evaluate until such time as it no longer poses too high a risk. If you are currently waiting for surgery, you may want to ask your doctor to refer you to Gender Surgery Program BC in the meantime. However, please note that non-emergency surgeries are only beginning to be offered again in BC, and there will likely be quite a wait here as well.
