For 30 years, the government has underfunded eye care. OHIP now only covers half the cost of an eye exam and optometrists pay the rest. Due to COVID-19, many optometrists may be forced to close their doors unless we take action.

We are back!! We are pleased to announce that the office is once again open and running. We do however have new protocols to which are as follows: 1. We no longer allow entry into the office without an appointment, This applies to glasses adjustment and repairs, contact lens orders or pick-ups, the purchase of ophthalmic lubricating eye drops and various dry eye products as well as the purchase of eye vitamin supplements. Please call ahead and make arrangements with the s...taff for these things. 2. If you are experiencing a new cough or increased chronic cough, fever, chills, fatigue, sore throat, red/pink eye, loss of sense of taste or smell of recent onset,shortness of breath of recent onset, you will not be admitted into the office and we request that you consult your family physician or Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000. 3. If you live with or have been in contact with anyone with the above symptoms, you will be denied entry into the office. 4. If you or anyone in your household have traveled outside of Canada, to Quebec or Metropolitan Toronto, you will be denied entry into the office. 5. If you have a confirmed case of Covid-19 or have had close contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 in the last 14 days, you will be denied entry onto the office. When you arrive at our office, you are to remain in your vehicle. When we are ready for you we will step outside with a whiteboard with your name written on it. You may proceed into the office at this time. Your driver is to remain in the vehicle unless you require personal assistance. Upon entry into the office, you MUST have a fresh, clean mask on covering your nose and mouth. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you with a locally made reusable mask for the cost of $6.00. A mask is require for everyone over the age of 2 years, no exceptions. You will find our staff dressed in personal protective equipment. We will appear much more medical/protected than ever before. We will take your temperature and provide you with hand sanitizer to use. We have installed a plastic barrier at the front desk and we've made changes to the sitting area for social distancing. We will make a note of the time you entered and exited the office for tracking purposes. We have been mandated by the College of Optometrists of Ontario as well as the government of Ontario to minimize contact time in the office. This is to protect you, our staff and our families. You will find is much less chatty in person, it's not because we don't like you. Our priority is the keep everyone safe. You look forward to seeing you again. The office will be closed March 13 to March 20th for March Break. We will reopen on Monday March 23rd at 8:15am. If you are experiencing an ocular emergency please go to your nearest emergency room.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 we are asking all patients that have been out of the country to please call the office before coming in. We are also asking if you are experiencing any cold/flu symptoms to please not come into the office. Thank you.

Next week the office will be closed on Monday February 17 & Tuesday February, 2020. The office will be open on Wednesday February 19th and Thursday February 20th 2020 from 8:15-4:30. Dr Gysen will not be in the office next week. Regular office hours will resume on Monday February 24th, 2020 at 8:15am. Summer Holidays The office will be closed starting Thursday July 25th 2019 @ 5:00 and will reopen on Tuesday August 13th 2019 @8:15am. If you are experiencing an ocular emergency please proceed to your nearest Emergency Room.
