Happy Saturday! I have spent the last couple days on the road, asking Cape Breton businesses to donate to a gift basket for our next fundraiser In true Cape Breton style, our local businesses did not disappoint and we are well on the way to an amazing gift basket to sell tickets on. I will post the details and a list of the contents on Friday, but I have to say I am really excited, it is going to be an amazing prize. I am still out with donation letters but if anyone is part of a local business and wants contribute to the prize, please message or call me I also have to send a huge shout out to Cogans Fuels in North Sydney, not only did they donate a generous gift certificate to the gift basket, they also made a generous donation to the caring closet itself Thank you!

Making lunches today, this is almost enough lunches to last 2 weeks. The Caring Closet is providing lunches for 30-40 children every day. There are no words to express my gratitude to everyone who continues to donate to keep this going, and everyone who shares these posts to let people know what we are doing at TL. It is a pretty amazing thing, 30-40 children every day that are not hungry, that know there is a meal at the school waiting for them. We may not be changing the ...world, but we are changing the world of every child who knows they can count on us In every lunch bag I try to include a fruit cup, cheese and crackers, a granola bar (peanut free), a sweet( bear paw cookies, wagon wheel, ect.), and fruit snacks. Good evening everyone, I hope all the kids (and parents ) are ready for back to school tomorrow. We just put together about 120 lunches and 50 snack bags to start us off right. Our snack bags are helpful for kids who need recess, or maybe have a lunch but it isn't enough to fill them. Along with the bags, their are cheese strings and juice boxes available. Thank you so much to everyone who continues to donate, it makes my heart happy knowing that no matter what craziness is happening in this world, the students at TL will have food in their bellies.

School is back on Monday, stocking up on supplies for lunches today :) thank you to everyone who helps to keep this going

Good evening! I just wanted to post a quick update :) our new fridge is set up in the school and lunches will be ready the first day of school for anyone in need The kids will be told, but if anyone has kids at TL that will need some help with lunch please let them know to see Michelle in the office and they will be taken care of. The Caring Closet itself I am still fine tuning, but before the first day it will all be worked out for the kids to access what they need safely.... We are almost back to school! Like everything else this year, things in the Caring Closet will be a little different, but we will still have everything we always do, and we will still have lunches. First off, I need to say a huge thank you to Denise Gale for the amazing donation of a mini fridge, supplies and finances for more supplies The cafeteria is doing pre orders this year and often we don't know until right before lunch who needs a little help each day. With Denise'...s donation, we will be able to have bag lunches ready to go every day for any child that may need it I will post more details as everything is figured out, but any child who needs a lunch will have it. I'm not 100% sure how children will be able to access the items in the caring closet, but I am 100% sure that they will be able to. Again I will post more details as soon as I have them. Good morning! I'm sure everyone has heard by now that schools are planned to reopen on September 8th. While none of us are sure what exactly that will look like, we do know that the need will be great for the students that rely on our caring closet. This pandemic has been hard for everyone, there has been a lot of job loss and reduced hours. I'm working on navigating how the caring closet will work with the new rules in place, but whatever it takes I will make sure the child...ren have access to the things they need. To accomplish that, I need to reach out to the community for help. I will attach a list of the things I know will be needed on day one, and maybe before that to help get things rolling. The Good Food Bus program will be running this summer and travelling to different areas in Cape Breton.... There will 5 markets that will be FREE!! Folks can go to the bus and pick up a grocery bag of food, including produce and some pantry supplies. Well, we have officially recieved the news that the schools will not be reopening this school year. I hope everyone is enjoying march break! Unfortunately, it was announced today that march break is going to be much longer then anyone was prepared for, due to Covid-19. To the parents of children who use the Caring Closet for supplies, I am working on a plan to get supplies to you. Please watch the page later in the week, I am just working on the logistics. In the meantime, if there is something you know will be needed, please pm me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. This is a hard situation for everyone. For families living in poverty that don't have the means to stock pile it will be harder. I will do everything in my power to help as many as I can, but please reach out and make sure your community is doing ok. It takes a village :)

Good morning! Just want to say a huge thank you to the staff of The Black Spoon, the MacDonald family and the Coady family for your donation to our caring closet. This time of year, with higher heating bills, is the busiest time of year for us. We are providing 8-10 hot meals every day, as well as keeping the shelves stocked with items that go quickly. Thank you so much to everyone for your continued support, you all are the reason this is able to continue. You are the reason these children are comfortable and have full bellies When I sit and think about how small this started, and where we are today, I could cry tears of joy and gratitude. You are truly making a difference in the lives of children.

Good morning! It's a chilly one! We have a good supply of winter coats, hats, mitts, gloves and warm socks up in the closet. If your child is in need, please tell them to stop by. The door is always open. If they are uncomfortable feel free to message me and I will do my best to help get it to you. We also have a decent supply of hygiene products and school supplies. Lunch money is always available by stopping in the office and speaking to the secretary or Ms. Stubbert. Any questions or concerns feel free to message and I'll do whatever I can to help. This is a hard time of year, if you need help please reach out.

This amazing group is having an event February 23rd, and have generously offered to support TL Sullivan Caring Closet. Please support them if you can, they are doing great work in our community and support different local groups with each event.

Now that I'm not crying....lol. I want to send a huge thank you to everyone for making this possible! To everyone who donated, bought tickets, sold tickets, shared facebook posts, the students who sold tickets at parent teacher, you are all amazing. My heart is so full and so is the hot lunch account $2016 raised . It amazes me how awesome this community is. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and from every child who will have a meal, because of you.
