If you work at a desk all day, you may be concerned about the best posture or way for you to sit. The truth is- there is no best posture for a full day of desk work. Even sitting with a perfect neutral spine will leave you sore at the end of a day. Pretty much any position (as long as it is comfortable) for a short period of time is a good way to sit. If you are working from home, even switching up the chair you sit in can give your body a bit of a break. ... Still sore? I can help with workstation recommendations, as well as stretches/exercises to use throughout your day.

Can acupuncture prevent a migraine? We know that acupuncture can be an effective treatment option when you have a headache, but there is evidence suggesting it may even be able to help prevent it. When this 2020 study compared treatment with acupuncture to a sham or usual care (lifestyle modifications), the acupuncture group had a significant reduction in number of migraine days. The effects from treatment also tended to start earlier and last longer than the other interven...tions. Patients also reported decreased pain and improved quality of life. So what does this mean? If you suffer from migraine headaches, it may be a time for a conversation with your acupuncture provider about using it for prevention, and not only treatment. Source: Xu, Shabei, et al. Manual acupuncture versus sham acupuncture and usual care for prophylaxis of episodic migraine without aura: multicentre, randomised clinical trial bmj 368 (2020).

I have sciatica is something I hear from patients all the time. This term says a lot about what a you are experiencing, but it is not actually a diagnosis. Sciatic nerve irritation causes pain and sometimes numbness in the buttocks, back of the thigh and even into the calf. The specific areas of pain, as well as the activities that make it better or worse depend on the cause. ... This type of pain may be caused by: -lumbar disc herniation -lumbar stenosis -piriformis syndrome -deep gluteal syndrome -sacroiliac joint syndrome This is why an online search for stretches or exercises for sciatica could actually end up making you feel worse- they may be addressing the wrong condition. A chiropractor or other health professional can help you figure out the cause of your sciatica type pain, as well as provide treatment.
