What’s healthy? I made a story the other day asking if a banana with chocolate sauce was a healthy snack. Now, it was a bit of a tricky question because what are we comparing to? I get asked all the time is this or that healthy and well if a banana with chocolate sauce is replacing a banana split with ice cream then you go girl that’s awesome. If you’ve got insulin resistance it’s not going to be great for you spiking those sugars up especially because it’s not paired with... a protein (think banana with nut butter instead or in addition to). My point is healthy eating is relative and it’s a journey. So if your healthy snack today is a banana with chocolate instead of a bag of chips or ice cream way to go. And honestly, we don’t have to be perfect. It’s good to enjoy our food and not get fear around certain foods because mental health around food matters too. #foodtalk #foodrelationship #whatshealthy #steinbach #steinbachnaturopath #fertilitymanitoba See more

Code red but we are still open! Masks are required at all times in the clinic which means no facial rejuvenation acupuncture for now, and whenever at all possible we will be doing virtual visits. For those of you who depend on acupuncture we can still keep doing that as long as we mask up and follow social distancing as much as possible. If these regulations change I’ll let you know.

What’s that blue stuff on the bowl you ask?? It’s what we use instead of plastic Saran-wrap as much as possible to reduce waste to cover the bowl of leftovers, or wrap food in directly. The reusable food covering is made from beeswax and works well. Do you use something like this?

We hold so much tension without realizing it. Try to check in on your body and see where you may be holding tension. Jaw, forehead, shoulders or traps are common places to hold tight

Have you practiced mindfulness today? Do you know what I mean when I say mindfulness?? It’s about being in the here and now observing what’s around you instead of being in your head . I practice mindfulness on my walk to work- I look at the trees and the colours and consciously focus on what the fresh air feels like in my lungs and what the air feels like on my face and listen for birds chirping. What time can you set aside to practice mindfulness? Is it easy or hard for you?

We can use many tools to work on anxiety. Try some of these coping mechanisms; and if it gets too much practice grounding yourself by looking and listening to what is around you. #anxietytools #anxiety #acupuncture #naturopathicdoctor #health #mentalhealth #anxietyrelief
